What specific problem are you solving?
Health Plus is tackling the silent healthcare crisis in Rwanda, where over 1.7 million vulnerable people including 85,454 persons with disabilities and 1,625,348 minority community members - with limited access to quality specialized healthcare services. The problem is worsened by poor healthcare infrastructure, with 40 district hospitals, 564 health centers, and 2700 health posts lacking accessibility upgrades. 28,000 healthcare providers with no training in inclusive care, leading to widespread healthcare exclusion.
This crisis extends beyond Rwanda - globally over 1.3 billion people face healthcare exclusion. Health Plus provides mobile clinics, mHealth, and training to ensure inclusive specialized care, vulnerable populations face systemic barriers to healthcare, limited skilled care provider and limited disability-friendly infrastructure. Health Plus directly addresses these issues through mobile clinics and digital health solutions, bringing specialized, equitable, and inclusive healthcare services to underserved communities.
What is your solution?
Health Plus is a mobile healthcare and digital health solution designed to bring specialized, high-quality care to vulnerable populations who face barriers to accessing traditional healthcare services.
Our mobile clinics travel to underserved communities, offering dermatology, ophthalmology, mental health, Adolescent sexual reproductive health, and Children nutrition services—focusing on persons with disabilities and minority groups. These clinics provide on-the-spot diagnosis, treatment, counseling, onsite Plastic Surgery, Biopsy and essential medical supplies like sunscreen creams and assistive devices.
We also use mobile health (mHealth) technology and training healthcare providers to expand access to care. Through a telemedicine platform and SMS-based health education, patients can consult specialists, receive follow-up care, and access vital health information remotely. AI-powered screening tools help detect skin conditions early, and electronic medical records (EMRs) improve patient tracking and continuity of care.
Combining on-the-ground mobile clinics with digital health tools and Training healthcare providers, Health Plus ensures that specialized healthcare reaches those who need it most—where they are, when they need it.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Health Plus serves persons with disabilities, persons with albinism, LGBTQ+ individuals, indigenous communities, and other marginalized groups in Rwanda who face systemic barriers to healthcare. These populations - over 1.7 million people struggle with healthcare inaccessibility, discrimination, and a limited specialized medical services.
Current challenges include 40 district hospitals, 564 health centers, and 2700 health posts lacking accessibility upgrades, while 28,000 healthcare providers remain unskilled in inclusive care. As a result, many suffer from untreated conditions, vision impairments, mental health issues, and reproductive health complications.
Health Plus directly addresses these issues through mobile clinics offering dermatology, ophthalmology, mental health, adolescent sexual reproductive health, orthopedics and child nutrition services. We provide plastic surgery, biopsies, assistive devices, sunscreen creams, and on-the-spot treatments.
mHealth technology expands access via telemedicine, AI-powered screenings, SMS-based health education, and electronic medical records (EMRs). We also train healthcare providers to ensure long-term impact.
