What specific problem are you solving?
We are tackling the urgent issue of extreme heat exposure in communities without access to sustainable cooling. As heatwaves become hotter and longer, they are taking a deadly toll—especially in India, where temperatures regularly exceed 47°C. In 2021, over 167 billion labor hours were lost due to heat exposure, disproportionately affecting outdoor workers. Globally, 2.3 billion people lack access to safe, affordable cooling.
In India alone, less than 25% of urban households and only 8% of rural homes have air conditioning. Traditional cooling systems like ACs and mist fans are expensive, power-hungry, and contribute to carbon emissions, worsening the problem they aim to solve.
KushaWeaves provides a low-cost, zero-electricity solution using blinds made from upcycled Vetiver roots and other agrowaste. These blinds are designed for indoors open and semi-open spaces—balconies, shops, cafes, homes, or workspaces—where conventional cooling fails. Paired with our Myst misting system, they reduce temperatures by 6–8°C, purify air, and repel mosquitoes.

Our Vetiver blinds, woven from aromatic plant roots, are soft, durable, and easy to install with a DIY kit. When misted, they cool the air by 6–8°C through evaporation and emit a calming Vetiver aroma that repels mosquitoes and purifies the air. Our patented yarn-making process transforms Vetiver roots into soft threads while retaining their essential oils, which are slowly released over time. The result is a sturdy, lightweight fabric perfect for modern lifestyles, blending traditional wisdom with modern science for an affordable climate-friendly cooling solution.
