What specific problem are you solving?
Across Africa, millions of children lack access to quality STEM education, limiting their ability to develop future-ready skills. Globally, 250 million children have no formal learning access, and many who attend school do not gain essential math, science, and problem-solving skills. In Sub-Saharan Africa alone, 90% of children lack foundational literacy and numeracy by age 10 (World Bank, 2018). The situation is worse for children in low-income, remote, and conflict-affected areas, where schools often lack STEM resources, trained teachers, and engaging learning materials. Furthermore, only 50% of primary schools globally have disability-adapted infrastructure, leaving children with disabilities excluded from effective learning.
What is your solution?
STEMGenius is an interactive science simulation lab that makes STEM learning accessible, engaging, and inclusive for children and youth aged 5-18 years in Africa. Our platform uses simulation-based technology to help students conduct virtual experiments, learn coding, and explore robotics in a risk-free, hands-on environment. How It Works: Immersive STEM Simulations – Students engage in virtual science experiments and coding challenges, reinforcing theoretical concepts with practical applications. Gamified Learning – Interactive lessons with quizzes, challenges, and rewards improve engagement and retention. Assistive & Inclusive Features – Adaptive tools, including voice commands, text-to-speech, and customizable interfaces, make learning accessible for students with disabilities. Scalable & Offline Capability – While accessible online, we are developing offline functionality for students with limited internet access. By integrating AI-driven personalization, we tailor learning experiences to each student’s pace and needs. STEMGenius is equipping the next generation of problem-solvers with the science, technology, and critical thinking skills needed for future careers.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
STEMGenius serves children and youth (ages 8-18) in Africa, particularly those in underserved communities, including: -Students in low-income and rural areas – Limited access to STEM resources and trained teachers leaves them disadvantaged in science and technology fields. -Children with disabilities and learning differences – Many schools lack adaptive STEM learning tools, excluding them from hands-on science experiences. -Learners in conflict-affected and remote regions – Internet and infrastructure challenges limit access to quality education, creating learning gaps. How We Improve Their Lives: -Access to STEM Learning: Our interactive simulations bring science experiments, coding, and robotics education to students without the need for expensive lab equipment. -Better Learning Outcomes: Gamification and AI-driven personalization boost engagement, retention, and problem-solving skills. - Future-Ready Skills: Students gain digital literacy, AI, and coding skills, improving their career prospects in a rapidly evolving job market. - Inclusion for Learners with Disabilities: Adaptive features like text-to-speech, voice commands, and adjustable interfaces create an equitable learning experience. By bridging the STEM education gap, STEMGenius empowers the next generation of African innovators, problem-solvers, and digital leaders.
