What specific problem are you solving?
More than two billion people worldwide lack access to essential healthcare services, with underserved regions facing severe shortages of skilled vascular surgeons. This shortage leads to delayed or denied treatment for life-threatening conditions such as critical limb ischemia, stroke, and aortic aneurysms, significantly increasing mortality and disability rates. In low-resource settings, patients often travel long distances to access specialized care, and many die waiting for treatment.
Traditional vascular procedures require highly skilled specialists and advanced imaging equipment, which are often unavailable in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Additionally, the learning curve for vascular navigation is steep, requiring years of training. As a result, millions of patients go untreated due to a lack of trained personnel and infrastructure.
Our solution, an AI-Guided Vascular Navigation System, enables unskilled or minimally trained healthcare providers to safely perform complex vascular interventions with AI-powered real-time guidance. Our dream is to reduce reliance on specialized expertise and democratize life-saving vascular procedures!
This technology has the potential to transform global healthcare, expanding surgical capacity in underserved regions and saving thousands of lives each year.
What is your solution?
The Flux 2 Navigation System (https://youtu.be/hYYVNDWYTSg) is an advanced yet accessible solution that enables unskilled or minimally trained healthcare providers to perform life-saving vascular procedures with AI-driven real-time guidance of stents and guidewires.
Our system consists of a robotic-assisted magnetic navigation platform that precisely steers a guidewire through blood vessels, eliminating the need for highly skilled manual navigation. It uses AI-powered imaging analysis to interpret real-time fluoroscopy or ultrasound scans, providing automated feedback, navigation assistance, and safety alerts to the operator. This significantly reduces procedural complexity and training requirements.
Unlike conventional vascular surgery, which requires years of expertise, our system transforms any general practitioner into an effective interventionist, making emergency vascular care possible in underserved regions. The technology integrates with affordable, portable imaging devices, ensuring accessibility even in low-resource settings.
Our dream is to democratize vascular surgery, reduce reliance on specialists, improve procedural success rates, and save lives where access to advanced care is limited. Our system is designed for scalability and ease of deployment, ensuring that even the most remote communities can benefit from life-saving vascular interventions.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves patients in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and remote communities who lack access to specialized vascular care. These populations face high rates of untreated vascular diseases such as critical limb ischemia, stroke, and aortic aneurysms, leading to preventable amputations, disabilities, and deaths.
A key barrier is the severe shortage of trained vascular surgeons - for example, in sub-Saharan Africa, there is less than one vascular specialist per million people, compared to over 100 per million in high-income countries. This shortage means that millions of patients cannot receive timely, life-saving procedures.
