What specific problem are you solving?
Over $10 trillion in annual biodiversity investing is projected by 2030, with dependence on nature driving investors across the world to nature-first investments. Following lead investors from places like the Rockefeller Foundation, this emerging industry has 18% CAGR. However, Indigenous knowledge, proven crucial for success over and over by scientific communities, remains fragmented and inaccessible. Investors and debt financiers struggle to engage with Indigenous communities effectively, leading to higher risks and poorer outcomes. We know the market, and investors move fast, and so do Indigneous communities. Finally, the carbon industry proved there are significant problems with indigenous-safe investing, which we want to move fast to remove for the biodiversity industry.
What is your solution?
We believe Indigenous knowledge is key to successful biodiversity projects, so we've built a platform that works magic-fast to onboard traditional wisdom with modern investment needs through our unique three-tier system: First, our 24-hour assessment provides immediate project evaluation using indigenous metrics. Investors can get started with data they already have, making it simple to begin incorporating indigenous knowledge from day one. Second, within seven days, we connect investors with indigenous experts within 20 kilometers of their location, enabling direct community engagement with pre-vetted knowledge holders. Finally, our globals. This is a two-person consulting team comprised of one “done it all” elder and one next-generation leader, providing ongoing support that can result in "Indigenous Certified" status for top markets, working congruently with the Global Biodiversity Standards.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
EcoTribe serves two interconnected populations: indigenous knowledge holders and biodiversity market participants. Indigenous communities possess generations of environmental stewardship knowledge but lack mechanisms to safely share and monetize this wisdom while maintaining sovereignty. Currently, their knowledge is often misrepresented or extracted without fair compensation. Many communities have stopped sharing their insights altogether, creating a critical gap in environmental protection. Our data cooperative provides them with automated revenue sharing, complete data sovereignty through federated voting on data access, and the ability to scale their participation in the growing biodiversity market. The result is a scalable, equitable system that helps preserve both biodiversity and indigenous wisdom while creating sustainable revenue streams for these groups to buy back Indigenous lands and restore indigenous knowledge. Simultaneously, biodiversity market participants - from project managers to investors - struggle to access reliable indigenous knowledge that could significantly improve their outcomes. Research shows indigenous stewardship leads to better biodiversity results, yet there's no systematic way to incorporate this wisdom at market speed and scale.
