What specific problem are you solving?
Neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and multiple sclerosis affect over 60 million people worldwide, with cases expected to rise due to aging populations. These conditions lead to devastating motor, cognitive, and psychiatric impairments, reducing independence and quality of life. Existing treatments are inadequate: Medications provide only temporary symptom relief, losing effectiveness over time. Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is invasive, costly ($100,000+), and inaccessible to most patients. No disease-modifying solutions currently exist, leaving patients and caregivers with limited options. This problem extends beyond patients to caregivers, healthcare systems, and economies: Caregivers provide over 17.5 billion hours of unpaid care annually, leading to burnout and financial strain. Healthcare costs exceed $305 billion annually in the U.S. alone for dementia-related care. Neurologists and specialists face high patient volumes, leading to 75% burnout rates due to the system's inefficiencies. By addressing these issues with an affordable, non-invasive neurostimulation device, we aim to improve patient outcomes, reduce caregiving burdens, and lower healthcare costs globally.
What is your solution?
Axis is a non-invasive, AI-driven neurostimulation device designed to improve brain health and provide relief for neurodegenerative conditions like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Using transcranial pulsed current stimulation (tPCS), Axis delivers targeted electrical pulses to enhance neuronal connectivity and brain plasticity. Unlike invasive procedures such as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), which costs over $100,000 and requires surgery, Axis is an affordable, at-home solution priced at $500 with a $10/month subscription. The device is personalized for each user through real-time EEG feedback and AI-driven algorithms, ensuring that brain stimulation is optimized for individual needs. Patients can use Axis for just 15 minutes a day, reducing reliance on costly medications and frequent medical visits. The cloud-based data system further refines treatment over time, providing valuable insights for ongoing improvement and research. By making advanced neuromodulation accessible and affordable, Axis has the potential to transform the way brain diseases are treated globally, improving patient outcomes, reducing caregiver burden, and lowering healthcare costs.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Axis serves individuals suffering from neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and Stroke-related cognitive decline, as well as those seeking cognitive enhancement and mental well-being. Patients – Over 60 million people worldwide face progressive motor, cognitive, and psychiatric impairments due to neurological conditions. Current treatments are either temporary, invasive, or prohibitively expensive. Axis offers an affordable, at-home, and non-invasive solution, providing symptom relief, improved motor function, and cognitive stability without surgery or excessive costs. Caregivers – Many caregivers provide 17.5 billion hours of unpaid care annually, often sacrificing their careers and health. By improving patients' independence and slowing disease progression, Axis reduces caregiving burdens and enhances quality of life for families. Physicians – Neurologists and specialists struggle with limited treatment options and high patient volumes, contributing to burnout in 75% of doctors. Axis provides an accessible, data-driven therapy that enhances patient outcomes while integrating seamlessly into existing care plans. Healthcare Systems & Payers – Neurodegenerative diseases cost over $305 billion annually in the U.S. alone. By reducing hospital visits, medication dependency, and long-term care needs, Axis lowers healthcare costs and improves economic sustainability. By making advanced neuromodulation affordable and accessible, Axis empowers patients, eases caregiver burdens, and enhances healthcare efficiency.
