What specific problem are you solving?
Dosy Bikes addresses women’s lack of access to safe, affordable, and sustainable transportation in Egypt and similar regions. In a country with over 100 million people, women face significant mobility barriers due to safety concerns, cultural restrictions, and limited access to personal transportation. According to the World Bank (2022), 40% of women in Egypt lack independent transportation, limiting their economic opportunities. Additionally, public transportation is unsafe for many women, with reports indicating that over 80% have experienced harassment on public transit. Beyond gender inequality, urban congestion and air pollution are severe problems. Cairo is one of the world’s most polluted cities, with traffic congestion costing Egypt nearly 4% of its GDP annually (World Bank, 2014). Additionally, Egypt ranks among the top 20 countries globally for CO2 emissions. With urbanization increasing, the demand for sustainable transportation solutions is critical. Dosy tackles these issues by providing women access to scooters and bicycles, connecting them with female instructors, and promoting electric mobility. By empowering women with independent transportation options, Dosy helps reduce reliance on unsafe public transit, lower carbon emissions, and create economic opportunities for women as instructors and delivery workers.
What is your solution?
Dosy Bikes is a tech-based micro-mobility platform that provides women in Egypt and the MENA region with access to scooters and bicycles through an easy-to-use mobile application. The platform connects women with certified female instructors who teach them how to ride safely and confidently. Additionally, Dosy offers services such as self-defense training, vehicle maintenance, and an e-commerce marketplace for purchasing electric scooters, bicycles, and spare parts. Dosy’s mobile application allows users to book lessons, schedule maintenance, and access safety resources with just a few taps. We leverage GPS tracking, digital payments, and AI-driven scheduling to match users with the nearest available instructors. In the next phase, we are expanding Dosy into a ride-hailing and delivery service exclusively for female riders, offering women more economic opportunities in the gig economy while promoting sustainable, low-emission transportation. By integrating electric mobility and digital solutions, Dosy empowers women with safer, more affordable, and eco-friendly transportation options, reducing reliance on unsafe public transport and contributing to gender-inclusive mobility and climate action.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Dosy Bikes serves women in Egypt and the MENA region who face significant barriers to safe, affordable, and independent transportation. Our primary users are women aged 18-45, including students, working professionals, and entrepreneurs who need reliable mobility options. Many of these women are underserved due to cultural restrictions, safety concerns, and limited access to personal transportation, which hinder their ability to commute, work, and participate in society. Dosy directly addresses these challenges by providing women with scooter and bicycle training, access to electric mobility, and economic opportunities as instructors and delivery riders. Through our mobile application, women can book training sessions, purchase electric scooters and spare parts, and access self-defense workshops to enhance their safety on the road. By empowering women with independent and eco-friendly transportation, Dosy reduces their reliance on unsafe public transit, expands their job opportunities, and promotes gender-inclusive mobility. This not only improves their economic participation and freedom but also helps reduce urban congestion and carbon emissions, contributing to a more sustainable and equitable future.
