What specific problem are you solving?
Africa is experiencing the brunt of climate change, with Nigeria losing approximately 351,000 hectares of forest annually and facing increasing extreme weather events. Despite these pressing challenges, climate literacy remains critically low, with 60% of African youth unaware of actionable steps they can take to mitigate environmental damage. Additionally, indigenous communities, who contribute the least to climate change, suffer disproportionately from deforestation, pollution, and land degradation. GreenQuest addresses this gap by using the power of gamification and Web3 technology to make climate education accessible, engaging, and actionable.
What is your solution?
GreenQuest is an Afro-futuristic game that educates players on climate change through immersive storytelling and gamified missions. Our game incorporates GameFi elements, allowing players to earn tokens for completing real-world environmental actions, such as tree planting, waste recycling, and advocacy campaigns. These tokens can be exchanged for in-game assets or real-world incentives, driving long-term engagement. The game integrates blockchain technology for transparency and rewards distribution, ensuring that impact-driven actions are verifiable and incentivized.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
GreenQuest serves African youth (ages 12-30), particularly in urban and rural underserved communities where climate education and digital access remain limited. Our solution empowers these youth by:
Enhancing climate literacy through interactive gameplay.
Providing economic opportunities via GameFi rewards.
Encouraging real-world impact, with a goal of planting 100,000 trees and removing 500,000 tons of plastic waste by 2027.
Creating a decentralized, community-driven approach to climate action, ensuring that youth are not just players but active stakeholders in environmental solutions.
