What specific problem are you solving?
We are addressing healthcare disparities (health status, access to healthcare, and quality of care) resulting from countries and healthcare training institutions (Medical, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dental, and Public Health) operating exclusively within their contexts. Few platforms exist within and across countries to share knowledge and training from global policies and recommendations to improve health outcomes across the globe. Currently, most medical schools globally do not operate according to social accountability standards, principles, and practices. They lack the knowledge, and expertise needed to serve 6 vulnerable populations: Indigenous, migrants and refugees, remote and rural, women, elderly, and individuals with intellectual disabilities. Indigenous peoples face up to 20 years of lower life expectancy, higher disability rates, and poorer quality of life. Migrants, 1 in 8 globally, often endure poor living conditions and limited healthcare. Rural populations, with 4 in 5 in extreme poverty, face weak health systems and healthcare inequities. Nearly a billion women worldwide face discrimination and pain that limits daily life. By 2030, 1 in 6 people will be 60+, often facing health neglect and discrimination. Lastly, 317 million people with developmental disabilities often face stigma and limited health care. Hence, improved healthcare for these 6 vulnerable populations is a priority.
What is your solution?
Our solution, The Global Health Network of Networks Powered by HiveBright, is a global technology platform designed to transform healthcare systems worldwide. Through partnerships with 20 Centers of Excellence (CEs) representing 20+ countries, with each CE representing a collective of medical universities, healthcare organizations, government, associations, and community institutions, our solution advances social accountability in healthcare and strengthens the primary care workforce to better serve vulnerable populations. Our solution offers CEs a platform for collaboration and access TUFH’s specialized tools, which include: 1. Indicators for Social Accountability Tool (ISAT) helps healthcare institutions improve their social responsibility, interprofessional education, and collaborative care standards. 2. TUFH Academies provides leadership training to faculty, helping them shape future healthcare professionals for a lasting impact. 3. Global Expert-created Research Papers and Training Academies improve the workforce knowledge and competencies to serve the needs of 6 vulnerable populations: Indigenous, migrants and refugees, remote and rural, women, elderly, and individuals with intellectual disabilities. Powered by HiveBright, a community management platform, our solution ensures efficient resource sharing, real-time collaboration, and data insights. Hence, we scale impact and address a critical challenge faced by organizations like WHO and the World Bank: disseminating research and policy while fostering cross-border collaboration.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
The Global Health Network of Networks Powered by HiveBright, directly serves a network of 20+ TUFH Centers of Excellence (CEs) across countries, South Africa, India, Brazil, Indonesia, Philippines, Oman/UAE/Yemen, Rwanda, Zambia, Turkey, Mexico, Argentina, Uganda, Nigeria, Egypt, Sudan, Malaysia, Congo, Canada, Malawi, Nepal, USA, Francophone countries, and Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland). Each CE includes healthcare training institutions (Medical, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dental, and Public Health), healthcare providers, government, associations, and community institutions. Each CE will train and support faculty, students, and health professionals in at least 10 Medical, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dental, and Public Health facilities, helping them meet Social Accountability standards and improve care for 6 vulnerable populations globally. Most CEs are based in public universities, training 10,000-50,000 health professionals annually across 10+ universities, hospitals, practices, and government. Our solution provides CEs with a platform for global learning with specialized tools like the Indicators of Social Accountability Tool (ISAT) on TUFH.org. ISAT helps institutions assess social accountability, align programs with health system needs, prioritize research, and improve quality, collaboration, equity, and service while enabling comparisons across institutions, regions, and countries. Each CE has a unique page on TUFH.org to manage and grow their local network.
