What specific problem are you solving?
MemoTag is solving the critical gaps in elderly care: the lack of real-time monitoring, poor symptom documentation, and inadequate caregiver support. Globally, over 60 million people live with dementia, with cases expected to triple by 2050. Yet, care remains reactive and fragmented. In India, 80% of care is informal, often managed by untrained family members without tools or support. This leads to delayed interventions, caregiver burnout, and poor outcomes. Key challenges we address: 1. No real-time tracking of cognitive and health changes 2. Caregivers forgetting or missing key symptoms 3. Limited communication between families and doctors 4. Lack of a support system for caregivers MemoTag is an AI-powered wearable and app that enables: 1. Real-time cognitive and health monitoring 2. Smart symptom journaling and alerts 3. Seamless care coordination 4. A supportive caregiver community As per the World Alzheimer Report 2023 by Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI), the global cost of dementia is estimated at over USD 1.3 trillion annually (as of 2019), and projected to reach USD 2.8 trillion by 2030, MemoTag offers an affordable, accessible, and proactive solution—empowering families to provide better care at home while creating data-driven insights for long-term impact.
What is your solution?
MemoTag is a smart wearable and caregiver app that simplifies dementia care at home. The wearable is a lightweight tag worn by the person with dementia. It tracks daily movement, sleep, and activity patterns. If something unusual occurs, like a fall, wandering, or sudden inactivity, it alerts caregivers. The companion app helps caregivers: 1. Log symptoms, mood, and behavior changes 2. Get medication and appointment reminders 3. Track health trends over time 4. Share updates with doctors 5. Access a supportive caregiver community MemoTag uses AI and IoT technology to learn each patient’s normal patterns and flag early signs of decline. This helps families respond quickly, avoid emergencies, and plan better care. It is simple to use, works on smartphones, and supports regional languages—making dementia care proactive, accessible, and connected.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
MemoTag is built for two underserved groups: 1. People living with dementia and their caregivers, 2. Family members providing informal, unpaid care at home. In India, over 8.8 million people live with dementia, and 80% of care is provided informally by relatives who are often untrained, overwhelmed, and unsupported. These caregivers struggle with monitoring health changes, remembering symptoms, coordinating care, and managing burnout. Most do not have access to dementia-friendly tools or professional guidance. The person with dementia, in turn, is vulnerable to delayed interventions, safety risks like wandering or falls, and inconsistent tracking of their condition. MemoTag directly supports both by offering a smart wearable for real-time health and behaviour tracking, and a caregiver app for logging symptoms, setting reminders, accessing insights, and joining a supportive community. By simplifying care, enhancing safety, and giving caregivers better tools and confidence, MemoTag makes dementia care more manageable, proactive, and humane for both patients and their families.
