What specific problem are you solving?
In our country, the high cost of mental health care makes it hard to access for many people who are already struggling to meet basic living expenses. This leaves individuals without the support they severely need to address their mental health challenges. Through personal experiences, our team is well aware of how mental health can affect a person's productivity and overall well-being, and it can significantly impact daily life.
A study published by BMC Public Health, titled "Gender Differences in Cost-Related Unmet Healthcare Needs: A National Study in Türkiye," found that 15.4% of individuals in Türkiye are unable to access healthcare due to financial barriers a result that exceeds the European Union average of 13.0%. The inspected services cover various areas of healthcare including mental health care such as treatment by psychologists or psychiatrists, underscoring the financial obstacles many face in accessing essential psychological support.
In light of these findings, it’s clear that financial barriers continue to limit access to essential mental health services in Türkiye. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live their life to the fullest, free from constant stress; however, many are denied this opportunity due to financial circumstances.
What is your solution?
Our solution is an affordable, wearable biofeedback system that helps individuals recognize and manage stress and anxiety in real time tailored with a free application.
The solution consists of a wearable with physiological sensors planted in it (GSR, BME280, and MAX30100). That monitors the user's heart rate, skin conductance, blood oxygen levels, and environmental factors like temperature and humidity, which may influence skin conductance.
A baseline data is gathered of the user's "normal skin conductance value" at the start of use, the app then uses this personalized data to identify deviations that may indicate stress or anxiety and provides tailored coping strategies to support the user's well-being. The baseline data can be recalibrated any time.
Although the wristband is greatly affordable and optimal, an only phone-based version is available for users who want to test and/or don't want to spend any money.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
While our solution is designed to be universally accessible, we are initially focusing on low-income individuals experiencing mental health challenges, particularly stress disorders such as "generalized anxiety disorder". To ensure we address the most urgent unmet needs. Our long-term goal is to expand access to everyone, regardless of background or economic status and we believe Solve can help us achieve our goal.
Our solution will empower individuals to recognize and manage their anxiety in real time, giving them access to affordable, personalized mental health support—anytime, anywhere. This will support users in their daily lives by helping users feel heard and supported, and offering consistent guidance.
