What specific problem are you solving?
Many patients around the world don’t fully understand the medical information they’re given. This confusion can lead to missed medications, delayed treatment, serious health problems, and higher healthcare costs. In the U.S., about 9 in 10 adults struggle to understand health-related information. This costs the healthcare system around $238 billion each year in avoidable expenses (Vernon et al., 2007). In developing countries, the problem is even more severe. People often face extra challenges—like low literacy, fewer years of formal education, and medical materials that are not available in their language. For example, a study in Zambia found that only 24.5% of women had strong health literacy skills (Mweemba et al., 2016). Many patients speak rare or Indigenous languages, but health instructions are usually provided in national or colonial languages. This makes it hard for people to understand how to care for themselves or their families (WHO). Doctors often have just 10–15 minutes per visit, making it difficult to explain everything clearly, especially when language or cultural barriers exist. When people don’t understand their care, they get sicker—and those with the fewest resources often face the greatest risk.
What is your solution?
MDus.ai creates personalized, animated videos to help patients understand their medical care in a clear, visual, and culturally relevant way. How it works: Doctor Input A doctor enters basic care instructions for the patient. Patient Choice The patient selects their preferred language, tone, and animation style—such as calm, formal, or playful. Video Generation Our internal AI engine, HEX, uses: Language models to generate scripts Image and video models to create scenes and characters Facial animation, lip-sync, and voice models to bring the message to life Automated editing tools for efficient assembly Human Touch We train diverse creators—called spellcasters—to shape tone, metaphors, and visuals so the videos feel emotionally and culturally relevant. Review & Delivery Each video is reviewed by medical experts, educators, and animators, then delivered to the patient to watch and share. Understanding Check Patients complete a short quiz after watching to check understanding, allowing us to improve content and support providers in follow-up.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
MDus.ai is for anyone who’s ever sat in a doctor’s office, nodded along, and walked out not really sure what just happened. We serve patients who are often left behind—those facing language barriers, low literacy, or cultural gaps that make traditional medical communication hard to access. But it’s not just about underserved communities. Even patients with high education levels, who speak the same language as their doctor, can find it hard to take in everything during a short, stressful visit. Sometimes you just need to see it, hear it again, or have it explained a different way. Our videos are made to be clear, visual, and human. They meet people where they are. And this helps doctors too. Instead of spending precious time repeating instructions, they can focus on assessing understanding, answering real questions, and building trust. It makes their work more efficient and more meaningful. We’re not replacing care—we’re making space for deeper care to happen.
