What specific problem are you solving?
reLeaf is solving the dual challenge of smallholder farmer poverty and climate change by enabling farmers to monetize carbon sequestration through agroforestry. Smallholder farmers, who contribute up to 80% of Africa’s food production, face declining yields due to land degradation, climate variability, and financial instability. At the same time, there is a growing demand for high-quality, verifiable carbon credits to combat climate change. However, most carbon markets remain inaccessible to small-scale farmers due to high verification costs, lack of transparency, and complex bureaucracy. Our solution leverages AI-driven satellite monitoring, LiDAR technology, and blockchain-backed carbon credit verification to ensure transparent, traceable, and efficient issuance of Carbon Removal Units (CRUs). This enables farmers to earn additional income from carbon finance, restore degraded land, and enhance food security while corporations access credible carbon offsets. By making carbon markets inclusive and accessible, Innovine creates a scalable, farmer-led climate solution that drives both economic empowerment and environmental restoration.
What is your solution?
reLeaf empowers smallholder farmers to generate income through carbon finance by integrating agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, and cutting-edge technology to create verified Carbon Removal Units (CRUs). By planting and maintaining trees on their farms, farmers sequester carbon, restore soil health, and improve biodiversity, while simultaneously earning from traceable, blockchain-backed carbon credits. We use AI-powered satellite monitoring, LiDAR technology, and remote sensing to accurately measure biomass growth and carbon sequestration, ensuring 95%+ accuracy in CRU verification. Our data-driven approach reduces verification costs, making carbon markets accessible and transparent for smallholder farmers. Through direct revenue-sharing, farmers receive 70% of CRU proceeds, while an additional 10% is reinvested in farm inputs, training, and monitoring. This model creates financial resilience, enhances food security, and drives climate adaptation. Innovine is scaling this solution to millions of farmers, targeting 10 million hectares restored and 50,000+ CRUs generated annually by 2050. Our approach bridges the gap between climate action and economic development, ensuring sustainable, scalable, and impactful carbon finance solutions for Africa’s rural communities.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves smallholder farmers, rural communities, and organizations seeking credible carbon offsets. Our primary beneficiaries are small-scale farmers in Africa, who face climate-driven yield losses, land degradation, and financial instability. By integrating agroforestry and carbon finance, we enable farmers to monetize carbon sequestration through verified Carbon Removal Units (CRUs), increasing their incomes while restoring their land. For farmers, this means higher earnings (70% of CRU revenue), improved soil fertility, and better climate resilience. For women and youth, our model fosters inclusive economic opportunities, as over 50% of participants are women and thousands of green jobs are created in tree nursery management, carbon monitoring, and data analysis. At the community level, Innovine’s projects drive reforestation, water conservation, and biodiversity restoration, ensuring long-term environmental sustainability. Additionally, organizations and corporations seeking high-quality, transparent carbon offsets benefit from our AI-driven CRU verification, which ensures credibility and traceability in the carbon market. By scaling to millions of farmers and restoring over 10 million hectares by 2050, Innovine’s solution creates a win-win for climate action and economic development, ensuring sustainable livelihoods and a healthier planet for future generations.
