Food waste is a massive global issue, with one-third of all food produced wasted—amounting to 1.3 billion tons annually. In Egypt alone, 18.1 Million Tons were wasted in 2024, despite one-third of the population facing food insecurity. This inefficiency harms businesses, consumers, and the environment, contributing to unnecessary carbon emissions and lost revenue. Mystery Bag tackles this by helping restaurants, bakeries, and grocery stores sell surplus food at discounted prices, reducing waste and making quality food more accessible. By bridging the gap between surplus food and price-sensitive consumers, we create a win-win: businesses recover losses, customers save money, and communities become more sustainable. Our solution directly supports Egypt’s circular economy, saving the environment, promoting resource efficiency while addressing food insecurity.
