What specific problem are you solving?
The North Kivu province has a population of 6,655,000, with over half living in urban areas. For example, the city of Goma alone has around 3 million inhabitants. This shift is primarily due to rural exodus caused by security instability in the countryside, leading to urban expansion and high population concentration in cities. In the past, rural areas supported cities by providing food, but due to insecurity and poor road conditions, cities now turn to external markets to meet the growing demands of their populations. As a result, many urban dwellers have turned to small-scale commerce, selling goods and necessities. However, these new traders often lack the resources to digitalize their businesses and access financial services like bank loans, due to the absence of reliable records of their activities. Moreover, reaching broader markets is difficult, limiting them to small, local markets, despite the existence of a larger provincial market. While some traders lack digital tool knowledge, most own smartphones and know how to use them. With an internet penetration rate of 43%, there is significant potential for these traders to access a larger market if digitalized. These factors combined could drive economic prosperity, help reduce social inequalities and even save lives.
What is your solution?
Kazisafe is a hybrid, cross-platform, and low-cost ERP software designed to help small merchants, from any sector, efficiently manage their inventory, facilitating track of expired products. With the power of artificial intelligence, it generates reliable and easy-to-interpret reports, facilitating access to banking services. In addition, Kazisafe provides merchants with the opportunity to connect to a dedicated e-commerce platform, enabling them to leverage internet penetration to sell their products online and use a network of identified individual couriers or established logistics organizations, to ship their products across the entire North Kivu province. Kazisafe utilizes GSM technologies to streamline electronic billing (e-billing) and the distribution of electronic rewards (e-rewards). This feature allows users to send airtime credits as bonuses to their customers, fostering customer loyalty and significantly boosting the revenue of small merchants. Through its partners, Kazisafe enables small merchants to acquire essential tools such as Android terminals or thermal printers at half price and on credit. This initiative ensures accessibility for all merchants while allowing them to pay the remaining balance in installments.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Kazisafe targets low-income merchants living in Goma, with a daily turnover ranging from 150 to 650 USD. Currently, these merchants rely on their immediate surroundings for business, which barely sustains them, and they struggle to access bank loans due to the lack of reliable reports on their activities. Kazisafe is the ideal solution to this problem. Not only does it help them manage their businesses more efficiently, but it also opens access to a larger, province-wide market. Additionally, it facilitates the acquisition of the necessary tools for using Kazisafe, making it more accessible to small merchants.
