What specific problem are you solving?
Over a billion children in low-resource countries lack access to coding education due to limited devices, internet, trained teachers, and standardized curricula. Meanwhile, two-thirds of all countries have introduced computer science in 2024, over half within the last five years alone. Yet most schools are built on 19th-century infrastructure with 20th-century educators now tasked with teaching 21st-century skills - without the tools to do so.
This gap is most severe in countries with the fastest-growing youth populations. Without inclusive, scalable models, entire generations risk being left behind in the global digital economy.
Pakistan is a critical case. By 2050, it will add 89 million people to its working-age population - more than the net workforce growth of the rest of the world (excluding Africa) combined. While India is currently six times larger, Pakistan’s workforce growth will be nearly two-thirds of India’s. Nigeria follows closely behind.
Despite the urgency, no major player currently delivers tech literacy at scale in these settings. Code School is building the blueprint for how digital and coding education can be delivered in low-resource environments - an adaptable, proven model for governments, schools, and donors committed to preparing youth for the future
What is your solution?
Code School delivers live, instructor-led coding classes for children aged 6 to 16, making high-quality computer science education accessible and affordable, even in low-resource settings. Unlike self-paced apps, Code School provides structured, interactive instruction tailored to different skill levels.
Our platform connects learners to the right instructor and curriculum at the right time. Parents can book live classes as easily as hailing a ride, while schools use the same system to access teacher training, curriculum, and classroom support.
Code School offers a structured learning progression from Grade 1 to Grade 10, taking students from zero to proficiency. We begin with block-based coding and transition to text-based programming in Python and JavaScript. At every level, students learn by building games, solving age-appropriate problems, and applying computational thinking.
Instead of relying on stable internet or expensive devices, we equip teachers to deliver coding education in any environment—online or offline. Our teaching ecosystem includes scripted lesson plans, classroom projects, code review videos, and assessments, enabling even non-programmer teachers to guide students with confidence.
With over 2,000 classes delivered across 20+ countries, Code School demonstrates that coding education can be scaled globally without high-end infrastructure.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Code School provides a comprehensive solution that supports students, teachers, school owners, parents, and governments, ensuring that computer science education is accessible and sustainable. By addressing teacher shortages, infrastructure limitations, and the lack of structured curricula, we create an ecosystem where all stakeholders can successfully implement and benefit from coding education.
Our primary target population is students from ages 6 to 16 years, especially those in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Our structured, instructor-led learning path from Grade 1 to Grade 10 takes students from zero to proficiency, equipping them with computational thinking and problem-solving skills for the digital economy.
Teachers often teach coding without formal training. Code School provides lesson plans, projects, code review videos, and assessments, enabling teachers to confidently deliver coding instruction in any setting.
School owners struggle to integrate coding due to resource constraints. Code School offers a scalable, cost-effective solution that requires minimal infrastructure.
Governments need structured curricula to implement CS mandates. Code School provides ready-to-use frameworks aligned with national education goals.
Parents need clear pathways for their children to gain digital skills. Code School’s live instruction model ensures structured learning.
