In Cambodia and across Southeast Asia, millions of youth face a critical gap between education and employment. Over 70% of high school students in Cambodia are unsure about their future career or major, leading to misaligned studies, skill gaps, and chronic underemployment. The issue is worsened by outdated school systems, limited access to career guidance, and the digital divide in low-resource settings. Globally, UNESCO reports that over 244 million children and youth are out of school, and even among those who are enrolled, many lack access to personalized, future-ready learning experiences. This disconnect is most acute in rural and underserved areas, where schools lack the digital tools and infrastructure to support student success or track progress effectively. Sala is addressing this by transforming how students explore, plan, and achieve their educational and career goals. We equip schools with digital management and career readiness systems, while offering students a personalized app to guide them from classroom to career. Our solution targets both the root causes by the poor guidance, lack of data, and institutional inefficiencies and the long-term effects of educational mismatch and job insecurity.

Sala is an end-to-end digital platform that helps students discover the right career path and empowers schools to deliver modern, data-driven education. For students, Sala offers a mobile and web app where they can take personality and interest assessments, explore majors, connect with universities, build portfolios, and access personalized job or internship recommendations all in one place. For schools and institutions, Sala provides digital school operations, a learning platform, and a career center portal. These tools allow educators to track student performance, manage academic records, run outreach events, and facilitate job matching — helping bridge the gap between education and employment. Technologically, Sala is built with scalable web and mobile frameworks (VueJS, Flutter, NodeJS) and deployed on AWS cloud infrastructure using services like EC2, EKS, and Lambda for high availability. We also use MongoDB and PostgreSQL for flexible, secure data storage. We’ve already onboarded 120,000+ students, and partnered with more than 50+ career centers and universities across Cambodia.
