What specific problem are you solving?
In Africa, particularly in Cameroon, integrating ICT and new technologies into education remains a significant challenge. Over 80% of primary and secondary schools lack suitable infrastructure and teaching materials for technology education. This deficiency prevents millions of children and adolescents, especially in rural areas, from acquiring essential skills for their development and integration into an increasingly digital world.
The lack of funding, limited internet access, and insufficient qualified instructors exacerbate the situation. These gaps deepen educational inequalities and hinder the empowerment of young people, especially girls and marginalized communities.
Our solution aims to democratize access to quality technology education through innovative, accessible, and locally adapted tools. It seeks to introduce ICT in schools using an active and inclusive pedagogy to motivate learners and improve their outcomes. By addressing this issue, we contribute to preparing a new generation of leaders capable of tackling the challenges of an ever-evolving world.
What is your solution?
Our solution is an innovative educational platform that integrates accessible technological tools, tailored to the limited resources of schools and rural communities. It is based on a hybrid model combining interactive in-person workshops and online learning modules, designed to teach digital and technological skills in a fun and practical way.
By utilizing simplified robotics kits, low-cost computers, and open-source educational applications, students learn to code, solve problems, and collaborate on real-world projects. Local trainers, who undergo prior training, use an active and inclusive teaching approach that fosters creativity and learner autonomy.
The platform also provides personalized tracking of students’ progress through integrated digital tools that collect and analyze learning data. Additionally, it functions even with limited internet connectivity, allowing offline access to essential content.
By combining innovative pedagogy with accessible technology, our solution aims to reduce educational inequalities and equip young people, especially the most disadvantaged, with the skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution primarily targets children and adolescents in underserved rural and urban areas of Cameroon, where access to technology education is almost non-existent. These young people are often overlooked, as over 80% of schools lack the infrastructure needed to teach digital skills, excluding them from a rapidly transforming digital world.
We also address educators, who rarely receive the training required to integrate ICT into their teaching methods. This limitation affects the quality and relevance of education in these communities.
By making technology learning accessible and engaging, our solution will enable these young individuals to acquire essential skills such as coding, problem-solving, and collaboration, thereby increasing their future professional opportunities. Educators will benefit from tailored training and tools to maximize the impact of their teaching. Ultimately, our initiative aims to reduce educational inequalities while empowering underserved communities to thrive in a digital environment.
