What specific problem are you solving?
Broreavement is addressing the critical lack of culturally responsive grief and emotional wellness support for men and boys of color, particularly those in inner-city, low-income communities. These individuals often experience higher exposure to trauma, loss, and systemic barriers that limit access to mental health resources. Traditional mental health services frequently fail to consider cultural stigmas around masculinity and emotional expression, leaving many to suffer in silence. Globally, depression affects over 280 million people, and suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among 15-29-year-olds, with Black and Brown communities facing disproportionate risks due to socioeconomic factors. In the U.S., Black youth suicide rates have risen nearly 40% in the last two decades, yet access to mental health services remains inadequate. Our solution—a digital platform designed by and for men and boys of color—aims to provide accessible, community-driven tools that foster emotional resilience. By integrating culturally relevant support, peer engagement, and guided wellness activities, our solution addresses the intersection of mental health stigma, economic barriers, and lack of tailored resources, ultimately creating a scalable, tech-based intervention that empowers young men to heal.
What is your solution?
Our solution is a digital wellness platform designed by and for men and boys of color to navigate grief, trauma, and emotional well-being. This mobile-friendly application provides culturally relevant mental health resources, interactive tools, and a supportive community to help users process loss and build resilience. The platform includes guided journaling exercises, mindfulness activities, and AI-driven emotional check-ins that help users track their mental wellness over time. Additionally, it offers peer support forums and mentorship opportunities, fostering a sense of brotherhood among users who share similar experiences. Using AI and data analytics, the app personalizes content and recommendations based on user engagement, ensuring that each individual receives support tailored to their needs. It also connects users with licensed therapists and community-based support programs, bridging the gap between digital resources and professional help. By leveraging technology to create an accessible, stigma-free space for emotional support, our solution empowers young men to heal, grow, and redefine their relationship with grief and mental health.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves men and boys of color, particularly inner-city, low-income youth and teens, who face systemic barriers to mental health support. These individuals often navigate grief, trauma, and emotional distress without adequate resources, due to stigma, financial constraints, and a lack of culturally competent care. Many struggle in silence, leading to adverse effects on their emotional well-being, academic performance, and overall quality of life. By providing a digital wellness platform tailored to their unique experiences, we offer a safe space for emotional expression, guided healing, and community support. The app delivers culturally relevant mental health resources, interactive self-care tools, and access to peer support and mentorship. Additionally, it bridges the gap between digital interventions and professional help by connecting users to therapists and community-based services. Through personalized AI-driven insights and interactive wellness activities, our solution empowers young men to take charge of their emotional health, build resilience, and foster meaningful connections. By normalizing conversations around grief and mental well-being, we aim to break cycles of generational trauma and create a long-term positive impact on mental health outcomes in underserved communities.
