What specific problem are you solving?
We are solving the problem of limited access to affordable, personalized orthotic care especially in low-resource settings.
Current orthotic manufacturing is slow, manual, and expensive. Orthotists often rely on plaster casting and hand-modified designs, with limited access to digital tools. Most are not trained in CAD software, making modern solutions hard to adopt. As a result, many patients receive poorly fitted orthotics, leading to discomfort, reduced mobility, and treatment dropout.
There is also a severe shortage of trained orthotists, especially in low-income countries, with often fewer than 1 per 100,000 people. Those in the field face high patient loads and low pay, leading to burnout and reduced quality of care.
At the same time, custom orthotics remain prohibitively expensive, ranging from $200–$1,000+, and healthcare systems cannot afford industrial 3D printing equipment. This makes it difficult for clinics to scale production and meet growing demand.
Our solution addresses this by providing orthotists with an easy-to-use digital platform that automates design, works with affordable 3D printers, and makes high-quality orthotics faster and more accessible for both clinicians and patients.
What is your solution?
Rightfit is a digital platform for orthotists—healthcare professionals who design and fit supportive devices like braces or splints—that simplifies the design and manufacturing of custom orthotics using 3D scanning, AI-assisted modeling, and 3D printing. It replaces outdated, manual methods with a fast, scalable, and user-friendly system.
Clinicians upload a 3D scan and select the condition. Our AI-powered engine analyzes the scan and generates a medically accurate, 3D-printable design in minutes—fully personalized to the patient’s anatomy and eliminating hours of manual work.
A cloud-based interface supports collaboration, real-time parameter adjustments, and seamless file transfer to in-house or partner 3D printers—streamlining the workflow from design to production.
We’ve optimized our designs for affordable FDM 3D printers (~$4,000), far more accessible than the $100,000+ industrial printers required by other solutions. This enables clinics and hospitals to produce orthotics in-house, reducing turnaround times and production costs.
Unlike traditional CAD tools that are expensive and complex, Rightfit is intuitive and built for clinicians with minimal training. This gives us a competitive edge and allows more providers especially in low-resource settings to deliver high-quality, personalized orthotic care.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Rightfit serves orthotists, clinicians, and the millions of patients worldwide who depend on orthotic devices for mobility, recovery, and daily support.
An estimated 40 million people globally need orthotic or prosthetic care, yet only 1 in 10 receive it (WHO, 2017). Many face long wait times, high costs, or live in areas without access to trained professionals or advanced facilities. This gap is especially severe in rural and low-resource settings.
Studies show that people who need orthotic care are often from lower-income groups, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. In Mongolia, for example, over 42% of households with people with disabilities live in poverty (ADB). Access to assistive devices remains limited outside of urban centers.
Clinicians and orthotists themselves are increasingly underserved. Many face low pay, high manual workloads, and limited career growthn which leads to burnout and a rising number of professionals leaving the field. This puts further strain on an already under-resourced system.
Rightfit is helping bridge these gaps by empowering clinicians to serve more patients with less effort and overhead. As a result, more people gain access to personalized orthotic care—making it possible for individuals to improve their independence, mobility, and quality of life
