We empower Southeast Asian learners to master new languages in their native tongue, using evidence-based methods like spaced repetition [1] and testing effect [2]. We eliminate the need for English fluency and simplify complex tools into an intuitive UX—cutting dropout rates by 40% and accelerating learning for professionals like doctors and lawyers. 1. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5126970/ 2. https://www.cell.com/trends/cognitive-sciences/abstract/S1364-6613(10)00208-1

Non-English speakers in Southeast Asia face significant barriers to quality language education due to the prevalence of English-centric platforms, limiting their ability to learn new languages effectively. Creating localized content requires significant resources, a step many companies skip in favor of globally dominant languages. However, English-based tools marginalize non-English speakers (ResearchGate, 2024) [1], with persistent access issues for minorities (UNICEF) [2]. With a population exceeding 650 million, Southeast Asia is a linguistically diverse region where millions are excluded from platforms like Duolingo or Babbel, which prioritize English as the medium of instruction. This gap not only affects educational access but also hinders employment and social mobility in a rapidly growing market. The global online language learning market is projected to grow from $15 billion in 2023 to over $32 billion by 2030, with underserved regions like Southeast Asia driving demand (Verified Market Research, 2023) [3]. 1. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/315059444_Language_education_policy_and_practice_in_East_and_Southeast_Asia 2. https://www.verifiedmarketresearch.com/product/global-online-language-learning-market-size-and-forecast/ 3. https://www.unicef.org/eap/reports/sea-plm-2019-main-regional-report

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Meet Aung, a Burmese nurse who dreams of working in Thailand’s hospitals but can’t learn Thai because every app demands English she doesn’t know. She’s one of 300 million Southeast Asians locked out of language learning—and economic mobility—by English-centric platforms. Aksarapak’s Dalo changes this. Our app teaches Thai, Burmese, and 10+ languages in the learner’s native tongue, using spaced repetition and culturally relevant content co-designed with local educators. With 300 million Southeast Asians locked out of language learning—and economic mobility—by English-centric platforms, we’ll scale to 15 languages, partner with hospitals for medical English training, and empower 10,000 learners like Aung in 18 months.
