What specific problem are you solving?
Maternal health issues, especially preeclampsia and postpartum disorders, are among the top reasons for maternal deaths around the globe. Preeclampsia impacts about 2–8% of pregnancies and leads to around 76,000 maternal fatalities each year. On the other hand, postpartum hemorrhage is responsible for more than 70,000 deaths worldwide. In Uganda, the situation is particularly dire, with a maternal mortality rate of 336 deaths per 100,000 live births, and hypertensive disorders making up 9–18% of these cases. Unfortunately, many women face challenges like a lack of early diagnosis, ongoing monitoring, and timely access to care, which only worsens these serious health issues.

Mother’s Garage maternal health tool harnesses the power of wearable technology and mobile AI analytics to keep a close eye on vital signs—like blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels—allowing for the early detection of preeclampsia and postpartum complications. This solution comes packed with risk assessments, timely alerts for early intervention, telemedicine access, and mental health screenings for postpartum depression. By utilizing cost-effective AI-driven diagnostics, we’re making healthcare more accessible, cutting down on maternal deaths, and empowering mothers with proactive healthcare solutions, particularly in resource-limited areas like Kampala, Uganda.

The Mother’s Garage solution is designed for pregnant and postpartum women living in low-resource areas, such as Kampala, Uganda, where access to maternal healthcare is often limited. Many of these women experience delays in diagnosis and lack ongoing monitoring, which raises the risks of conditions like preeclampsia, postpartum hypertension, hemorrhage, and depression.
With our AI-powered wearable device and mobile app, we offer real-time monitoring of vital signs, AI-driven risk assessments, early alerts, and telemedicine access. This approach allows for early detection, timely interventions, and ultimately, better outcomes for mothers.
