What specific problem are you solving?
We are addressing the systemic exclusion of trans and non-binary (TNB) people from the formal labor market—a reality shaped by deep-rooted discrimination and social stigma. In Argentina alone, more than 196,000 people identify outside the gender binary (INDEC, 2022). Despite progressive laws like the Gender Identity Law and trans employment quotas, access to dignified, stable employment remains alarmingly low. According to Argentina’s first Diversity Census (2023), 73% of TNB individuals experience discrimination in public spaces, 4 in 10 trans women have been fired or denied jobs due to their gender identity and only 10% of TNB people are formally employed This exclusion is not just economic, it’s social, educational, and institutional. TNB individuals often lack access to safe learning environments, professional networks, and employers that recognize their potential. Meanwhile, companies committed to diversity often don’t know how to effectively hire or support TNB talent. This disconnect fuels a cycle of marginalization. Our solution targets this broken system on both ends: empowering TNB individuals with professional tools and training, while also helping businesses build truly inclusive hiring practices and workplaces. Our solution breaks the cycle of systemic exclusion by bridging the gap between trans and non-binary talent and inclusive employers.
What is your solution?
Our solution is Contrata Trans, an innovative, tech-driven job matching platform designed specifically to empower transgender and non-binary individuals in their professional journeys. The platform connects job seekers with inclusive employers committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Contrata Trans provides tailored services to both individuals and companies. Job seekers can upload their resumes, receive personalized advice on improving their CVs, interview tips, and access free guidance to navigate the job market confidently. Built on open-source technology, the platform features an intuitive user interface designed with accessibility in mind and optimized for both desktop and mobile devices. It operates on a low-bandwidth system, ensuring accessibility across different regions, and incorporates automated features that simplify the hiring process. Our platform also includes real-time data reporting, making it easier for employers to track their DEI progress and ensure a fair, inclusive hiring process. By combining technology with inclusive practices, we’re creating lasting, systemic change for the transgender and non-binary community in the workplace.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves transgender and non-binary (TNB) individuals, a population that faces widespread discrimination and systemic exclusion in various areas, particularly in the workforce. In Argentina, for example, over 196,000 people do not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth, and many struggle to find secure and inclusive employment. This group is often marginalized in traditional hiring processes due to biases and lack of understanding around gender diversity. Contrata Trans directly addresses this by providing tailored services that equip TNB individuals with the tools they need to thrive in the job market, such as resume building, interview coaching, and job matching with inclusive employers. By also offering DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) workshops for companies, we create safer and more supportive work environments. This dual approach—empowering job seekers while transforming hiring practices—helps break down the barriers to employment and fosters a more inclusive workforce. Through this platform, TNB individuals gain not only the skills to succeed but also the confidence to navigate the workplace, ensuring long-term economic security, dignity, and the ability to fully exercise their rights.
