What specific problem are you solving?
There is a critical need for holistic and accessible respiratory care that encompasses screening, diagnosis, follow-up, and rehabilitation. Current health care settings often lack the necessary tools and systems to provide continuous, integrated care, particularly in remote or underserved areas. Additionally, the rise of respiratory diseases exacerbated by COVID-19 and increasing air pollution has intensified the demand for effective management and intervention strategies. There is also a gap in maintaining comprehensive digital records and facilitating medication adherence, which are essential for improving patient outcomes and enabling effective health policy planning in respiratory care.
What is your solution?
The solution aims to enhance accessibility and affordability of comprehensive respiratory care, covering everything from screening and diagnosis to rehabilitation. The team has developed a handheld, point-of-care (PoC) spirometer that is both patented and approved by US FDA and suitable for use in health care settings and at home. This device is complemented by Cloud-enabled mobile apps that store complete patient histories, exacerbation records, and test data, ensuring continuity of care. This integration improves medication adherence and promotes a symptom-free life for patients. Additionally, the population health management dashboards enable policymakers to focus on specific areas, using anonymized data to formulate long-term strategies to address the rise in respiratory diseases post COVID-19 and due to increasing air pollution. The primary beneficiaries include general practitioners (GPs) in remote areas, patients with diagnosed respiratory conditions, and populations at risk from exposure to pollution.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Alveofit®’s solution is ideal for low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs) due to its affordability and the portable design of the Alveoair® digital spirometer, which allows respiratory care services to extend beyond traditional hospital settings. The device is user-friendly and does not require specialized training, making it accessible even in remote areas. Additionally, its Cloud connectivity supports remote patient monitoring and data storage, crucial for regions where access to health care facilities is limited. The system’s scalability and data aggregation capabilities enable health care expansion without extensive infrastructure and help policymakers improve resource allocation and health strategies effectively.
