What specific problem are you solving?
In Kenya, many essential service industries including healthcare, delivery, and various skilled labor sectors lack digital platforms to connect providers with customers efficiently. This gap limits access to critical services, especially healthcare, where timely and affordable care can significantly reduce mortality rates. Millions of Kenyans face challenges accessing reliable transport, delivery, and healthcare services due to fragmented, informal systems without integrated digital solutions
Kenyan population is about 57 million with a 72% smartphone mobile penetration
57% of the total population is aged between 18 and 65 years which are the active consumers on daily basis
Umney addresses this by creating a single, comprehensive digital platform that brings these underserved service sectors online, enabling easy access to transportation, delivery, healthcare, and other services. This solution not only improves convenience and affordability for users but also creates employment opportunities for skilled laborers such as healthcare workers, drivers, and delivery personnel. By facilitating affordable healthcare access, Umney contributes directly to lowering preventable deaths while empowering local communities economically through job creation and service formalization. This integrated approach tackles multiple social and economic challenges simultaneously, driving inclusive growth and improved wellbeing across Kenya

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution primarily serves residents of Kenya’s urban and peri-urban communities, including low- and middle-income individuals, small business owners, healthcare patients, and skilled laborers.
Many of these groups are currently underserved by existing fragmented services particularly in transportation, healthcare, and professional skills due to lack of digital access, high costs, and limited availability of reliable, affordable options
Low-income commuters face long wait times, unsafe transport options, and unpredictable costs.
Patients, especially in rural and underserved areas, struggle to access affordable healthcare promptly, leading to preventable illnesses and mortality.
Skilled laborers and small businesses lack platforms to connect with customers, limiting income opportunities and formal employment.
Our solution addresses these gaps by providing a unified digital platform that makes transportation, healthcare, and professional services easily accessible, affordable, and reliable.
It empowers users to access timely healthcare, affordable transport, and skilled labor, improving their health outcomes, economic stability, and overall quality of life.
Additionally, by formalizing service provision, it creates employment opportunities for local workers, fostering inclusive economic growth.
