According to the World Economic Forum and McKinsey Health Institute, women live longer than men but spend an average of 9 more years in poor health—a 25% higher burden. This gap equals 75 million years of poor health or premature death globally. One-third of this disparity is linked to just nine conditions, including menopause. Despite its significance, menopause remains largely invisible in health systems and workplaces. Many women leave the workforce during this life stage due to a lack of inclusive environments. In Mexico, 49% of women aged 45–54 who are not employed left their jobs voluntarily—nearly double the rate of men in the same age group. In Latin America, women across all menopause stages face major barriers to healthcare access and workforce participation. The first national study on menopause in Mexico (SinReglas, 2022) found: 8 in 10 people know little or nothing about menopause. 9 in 10 women report symptoms. 1 in 2 say menopause affects their work and health. By 2030, 27 million Mexican women, 100 million in Latin America, and 1 billion globally will be in menopause. With Latin America aging rapidly, this is a critical and growing public health and equity challenge.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
At SinReglas, we support middle- and low-income women navigating menopause, and we work with companies and organizations across Mexico and Latin America to create inclusive, stigma-free workplaces. As of March 2025, over 10,000 women have joined our platform. Since September 2023, we’ve partnered with 20+ organizations, including UNFPA, Mexico’s Central Bank, Santander, Microsoft, and El Colegio de México, reaching more than 8,000 people through our programs. Our mission is to ensure that women in menopause can fully exercise their right to health and to work, with access to comprehensive, gender perspective care. We aim to shift knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors around menopause—reducing stigma, micro-aggressions, and discrimination. We envision workplaces with policies that recognize and support this stage of life. Impact Indicators With women, we measure: Knowledge and attitude change Healthier habits (nutrition, sleep, stress, activity) Improved well-being Long-term clinical outcomes (e.g., bloodwork) With organizations, we track: Awareness and behavior change Better productivity and well-being among menopausal employees Long-term reduction in absenteeism, presenteeism, and resignations SinReglas is helping reshape how menopause is lived—and supported—in today’s workforce.
