What specific problem are you solving?
MISTO addresses a global challenge: the disconnect between people and the urban environments they inhabit. Across cities in the U.S., Ukraine, and other countries, communities face deteriorating public spaces, limited avenues for civic engagement, and systemic exclusion from decision-making processes that shape their neighborhoods.
In the U.S., disinvestment and spatial inequality have left many historically marginalized communities without access to quality public infrastructure. Over 50% of low-income urban neighborhoods lack safe, walkable, and community-centered public spaces (Urban Institute, 2022). In Ukraine and other post-Soviet countries, decades of centralized planning and ongoing crises have further weakened public trust and participation in urban governance.
Globally, more than 1 in 3 city residents lacks access to safe, inclusive public spaces (UN Habitat, 2020), and cities struggle to meaningfully engage diverse populations in decision-making. The consequences are visible: environmental neglect, social fragmentation, and inequity in urban development.
MISTO offers a civic-tech solution that bridges this gap. We provide a digital infrastructure for inclusive urban participation—empowering residents, local governments, and institutions to collaboratively identify challenges, envision alternatives, and act. Our approach enables more equitable, responsive, and community-driven cities—no matter the geography.

Urban residents and guests — including local citizens, internally displaced people, tourists, and other temporary city users.
City administrations and urban service providers — such as municipal departments, utilities, transportation agencies, and public-facing institutions.
For residents and guests, everyday interaction with the city is often fragmented and frustrating. Information is siloed, participation is limited, and access to services is inconsistent — especially for marginalized or mobile populations. MISTO provides a unified, intuitive platform where anyone can report issues, suggest improvements, stay informed, and access key services in real time — enhancing inclusion, agency, and transparency.
