What specific problem are you solving?
Globally, millions of students lack access to high-quality, inclusive science education—especially those in underserved regions, conflict zones, or with disabilities. Traditional chemistry instruction relies heavily on visuals, technical jargon, and in-person lab access, creating barriers for visually impaired, neurodiverse, and low-income learners. In Brunei and many developing areas, students struggle with understanding core concepts due to a lack of accessible resources. According to UNESCO, 50% of primary schools globally do not have disability-adapted infrastructure, and learning gaps in science are widening post-COVID. There is an urgent need for tech-powered, accessible learning solutions that improve science outcomes for all.
What is your solution?
Chemistry Tutor is an AI-powered, gamified learning app designed to make chemistry accessible, engaging, and inclusive. It features voice recognition, text-to-speech (TTS), chemistry-specific pronunciation, interactive diagrams, and gamified challenges. Students can answer MCQs using voice, get real-time feedback, and explore topics through accessible explanations. The app supports keyboard navigation, high contrast mode, and screen readers. Powered by AI for diagram interpretation and learning personalization, it empowers learners of all backgrounds—including those with visual or learning disabilities—to study chemistry more effectively. It’s mobile-first, supports offline learning, and is designed to work even in low-resource settings.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Chemistry Tutor serves secondary school students aged 13–18, especially in underserved communities, including students with disabilities, limited internet access, or learning differences. Many lack access to qualified science teachers, accessible content, or inclusive learning tools. By providing a voice- and visually-accessible platform, the app empowers these learners to master chemistry concepts at their own pace. It reduces dependence on classroom-only instruction, supports exam preparation, and boosts learner confidence through gamified progress tracking. The solution also supports educators by offering visual explanations, error detection, and AI-powered tutoring assistance, ultimately improving outcomes and interest in STEM fields.
