What specific problem are you solving?
Cervical cancer, an easily treatable disease if detected early, claims ~300,000 lives annually worldwide, with low-resource regions bearing the heaviest toll. Globally, over 80% of cases occur in underserved areas, where efficient precancer screening is rare. Current methods are expert-dependent, costly, and slow—require multiple visits and delayed reporting, leading to high loss to follow-up. In countries like India, which accounts for 21% of deaths, rural women are ten times less likely to access timely care, amplifying maternal mortality and poverty. Families face an emotional burden as loved ones suffer from a curable condition due to systemic gaps. Health workers, constrained by inadequate tools, struggle to serve remote communities. This isn’t just a regional issue—it’s a global crisis demanding scalable solutions. Innovations like Smart Scope® CX have screened 350,000+ women, yet billions remain at risk without affordable, nurse-friendly technology and awareness. An integrated, accessible approach is urgently needed to bridge the detection gap and save lives worldwide.
What is your solution?
Smart Scope® CX is an AI-powered, trans-vaginal, handheld device revolutionizing cervical cancer screening. It enables nurses to perform single-visit, accurate precancer detection in low-resource settings, aligning with WHO’s 2030 goal to screen 70% of eligible women.
What is it? A portable, USFDA- and CDSCO-approved device with software, AI analysis, and telehealth integration. Can work offline too.
What does it do? It digitizes cervical exams, using image processing and AI delivers 90% accurate results in 30 seconds, enabling immediate triaging and counseling within 10 minutes.
How does it work?
1. A nurse applies the Acetic acid and Lugol’s iodine and uses transvaginal device to capture obstruction-free cervical images.
2. Built-in AI, trained on colposcopy principles, analyzes images for precancer risks, providing multi-level risk stratification.
3. Results appear instantly on the tablet software, with a report that can be printed; a telehealth module connects to experts for remote review if needed.
4. Nurses counsel patients on-site, with data synced to administrative dashboards for tracking.
Technology: AI-driven imaging, cloud-based telehealth, and a battery-powered design needing no mains electricity.
With 350,000+ women screened, six patents, and the 2025 Zayed Sustainability Prize, Smart Scope® CX empowers health workers, scales screening, and saves lives.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Smart Scope® CX serves women between the ages of 25 to 60—particularly in low-resource, underserved, and rural communities—who often lack access to regular cervical cancer screening due to stigma, logistical barriers, lack of awareness, and dependency on specialist-led systems. These women face avoidable morbidity and mortality from cervical cancer due to late detection.
The solution also directly supports frontline health workers—nurses, ASHAs, ANMs—who are often the first point of contact in public health systems but lack tools and training for accurate screening. By providing them with an easy-to-use, AI-powered, point-of-care device, Smart Scope empowers them to deliver immediate, single-visit screening and counseling without requiring electricity or internet.
Indirectly, the solution benefits families and communities by improving early diagnosis rates and reducing the economic and emotional burden of advanced-stage cancer.
With over 450 installations across five countries and a growing network of trained health workers, Smart Scope® CX is creating a ripple effect—enhancing women’s health, building capacity in public systems, and strengthening preventive care where it’s needed the most.
