What specific problem are you solving?
In India, especially in underserved farming communities and tribal regions, two critical issues persist: lack of access to clean, affordable energy for livelihood activities and limited opportunities for women to earn income sustainably. Most farmers still rely on manual or diesel-powered methods for post-harvest processing like rice de-husking which are not only expensive but also environmentally harmful. Similarly, many rural women skilled in tailoring are unable to start or scale up their work due to irregular power supply and outdated equipment.
These challenges directly contribute to income insecurity, migration to urban areas, and continued dependence on fossil fuels. According to government estimates, over 120 million smallholder farmers and rural artisans are still not integrated into modern, climate-friendly livelihood systems. Without clean energy-based tools, their productivity and income remain low.
Our solution aims to address these issues by deploying 25 solar-powered rice dehusking machine and 25 solarization of the sewing machines. These technologies reduce dependence on diesel, lower operating costs, and create reliable income-generating opportunities, particularly for women and smallholder farmers, while promoting the shift to clean, renewable energy at the grassroots level
What is your solution?
At AgriVijay, our solution is to provide clean energy-based livelihood tools, specifically solar-powered rice dehusking machines and solarization of sewing machines, to rural farmers and women entrepreneurs. These machines are powered entirely by solar energy, making them sustainable, cost-effective, and independent of unreliable electricity or expensive diesel.
The solar rice dehusking machine can dehusk up to 200 kg of rice per hour and includes a Motor, solar inverter, 545W panels, and battery backup. It's ideal for small farmers who want to process their crops locally, save money, and reduce post-harvest losses.
The solarization of the sewing machine is a sturdy, pedal-based tailoring machine with an integrated solar panel and battery. It allows rural women to work from home and generate income, even in areas with little or no electricity.
Both products come with long-term warranties and technical support. By bundling clean tech with training and after-sales service, we ensure users can operate and maintain the machines easily.
Our goal is to make sustainable livelihoods accessible to those who need them most, all while contributing to climate resilience and energy equity in rural India.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution directly serves smallholder farmers and rural women in India, especially those living in remote, underserved villages with limited access to reliable electricity and income-generating opportunities.
Most small farmers struggle with post-harvest losses due to a lack of affordable Rice processing facilities, forcing them to sell raw crops at low prices. At the same time, many rural women are eager to contribute to household income but lack tools, training, and access to livelihood opportunities.
By providing solar rice de-husking machines, we empower farmers to process their own grains locally, reduce dependency on middlemen, and earn better margins. This not only improves their income but also strengthens local food systems.
Through solarization of sewing machines, rural women gain the ability to start or scale their tailoring businesses from home—even in areas without consistent power. This boosts their independence, confidence, and financial stability.
Beyond economic benefits, the solution promotes clean energy use, reduces carbon emissions, and supports climate resilience in vulnerable communities. With just 25 solar rice de-husking machines and 25 solar sewing machines, we aim to create a ripple effect of empowerment, dignity, and sustainability across hundreds of lives.
