What specific problem are you solving?
We are working to close the racial and economic wealth gap by addressing the lack of accessible, culturally-relevant financial education for low-to-moderate income (LMI), Black, Brown, and Disabled families. The median Black family holds just one-eighth the wealth of the median white family in the U.S. ($24,100 vs. $188,200), and only 39% of Black households own stocks compared to 66% of white households. Many families don’t learn about investing, trusts, or long-term asset building until it's too late—or not at all.
In cities like Baltimore and across the Bay Area, entire communities lack exposure to financial tools that support wealth creation. Disabled families are also at a disadvantage, often disqualified from public assistance if they accumulate assets.
Without intervention, the projected median net worth for Black families will fall to $0 by 2053.
We address these systemic barriers by offering joyful, easy-to-understand Generational Wealth Toolkits, which include our award-winning LEGACY! Card Game and educational resources to spark investing conversations across generations. Our solution meets families where they are—with dignity, culture, and hope—and empowers them to build wealth, not just income.
What is your solution?
Our solution is the Generational Wealth Toolkit, a culturally-relevant, easy-to-use resource designed to help families begin building generational wealth through long-term investing, saving, and legacy planning.
Each toolkit includes the LEGACY! Card Game—a fun, interactive financial education game that teaches investing concepts, asset-building, and career decision-making through relatable life scenarios—and our Generational Wealth for All guide, which breaks down how to open a brokerage account, start a trust, and pass down wealth.
The toolkit is designed for families of all ages and abilities, and especially supports those in low-to-moderate income, Black, Brown, and Disabled communities who have historically been left out of financial systems. It sparks intergenerational conversations and empowers users to take tangible steps toward building wealth.
This year, we’re raising funds to distribute 50,000 toolkits across Baltimore and the Bay Area. Families can receive a toolkit for free or request one for personal use through our GoFundMe campaign. The toolkit is low-tech by design—delivered physically to be accessible offline—but linked to digital learning through our Financial Joy School platform.
We believe financial education should be joyful, relatable, and a starting point for lasting change.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Our solution serves low-to-moderate income(LMI), Black, Brown, and Disabled families—communities historically excluded from wealth-building opportunities and underserved by traditional financial education systems. Many families in these groups face systemic barriers, including limited access to investment knowledge, generational financial trauma, and government restrictions that penalize asset ownership for disabled individuals.
We focus on families in Baltimore and the Bay Area, two regions with deep racial wealth gaps and a growing need for accessible financial empowerment tools.
The Generational Wealth Toolkit gives families practical, culturally relevant tools to start building long-term wealth. Through the LEGACY! Card Game and accompanying financial guide, families are introduced to investing, saving, estate planning, and money conversations that often don’t happen in underserved households.
By making financial education joyful, relatable, and family-friendly, we empower users to take real action—opening brokerage accounts, creating savings plans, or starting trusts. The solution not only increases financial confidence but also helps families shift their mindset from surviving to legacy building.
This approach meets families where they are and ensures they feel seen, valued, and capable of participating in wealth creation.
