What specific problem are you solving?
African healthcare systems are struggling to adapt to two major shifts: an epidemiological transition from infectious to chronic and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and a change in healthcare consumption patterns – from centralized, facility-based models to person-centered care.
Most health systems in Africa still rely heavily on provider-centered, facility-based models that are ill-equipped to respond to the evolving needs of care seekers. Patients are often forced to navigate fragmented systems, facing life-threatening delays, high out-of-pocket costs, and poor continuity of care. This results in significant barriers to timely diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up – especially for those managing chronic conditions.
At the same time, healthcare demand is evolving. Patients increasingly seek personalized and coordinated care. Yet providers in Africa, constrained by outdated structures, are struggling to adapt to this shift.
Globally, the World Health Organization estimates that by 2030, over 75% of all deaths will be caused by chronic and non-communicable diseases – 80% of which will occur in low-resource settings like sub-Saharan Africa, where health systems are weakest.
The lack of provider responsiveness and poor clinical collaboration are systemic gaps that compromise the resilience of African health systems. This not only affects access and outcomes but also worsens inequities in care delivery.
What is your solution?
We are building ClinCol, a web and mobile platform designed to strengthen healthcare provider capacity and resilience in Africa’s evolving healthcare landscape. By integrating telehealth, clinical collaboration tools, and facility space rentals, we connect medical practitioners, health facilities, and care seekers in one seamless ecosystem.
Our platform empowers healthcare providers to move beyond the rigid, facility-based models by enabling flexible, person-centered care. Practitioners can collaborate across disciplines, access shared treatment spaces, and deliver services remotely through teleconsultations – expanding their reach and responsiveness.
For patients, ClinCol simplifies access to care by connecting them with qualified providers and facilities based on their specific needs, preferences, and location. The result is a more responsive, data-informed, and decentralized healthcare experience that reduces delays, lowers costs, and improves continuity of care.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
ClinCol directly serves three key groups within the healthcare ecosystem:
1. Healthcare Facilities: Many facilities are experiencing declining patient visits as care seekers increasingly reserve facility visits for urgent needs. This leads to underutilized infrastructure and reduced revenue. ClinCol enables these facilities to list their underused spaces as temporary care venues for mobile practitioners, helping them generate additional income during periods of low patient traffic.
2. Medical Practitioners: Many mobile or independent practitioners offer personalized, flexible care but lack access to clinical infrastructure when cases demand it. This limits their ability to scale or maintain quality care. Through ClinCol, they gain access to distributed, on-demand care spaces, allowing them to deliver higher-quality services while expanding their reach and resilience.
3. Healthcare Seekers: Patients often face fragmented, provider-centered systems that are hard to navigate, resulting in delayed or inadequate care. ClinCol simplifies their access to responsive, personalized care by connecting them directly with verified practitioners and facilities—reducing barriers, improving timeliness, and supporting better health outcomes.
