What specific problem are you solving?
The Native Dancer Project as a whole, can be described as having a global effect as there are 574 Tribes Populating the United States of America. Not only that, but many of American Native peoples have made a home in all corners of the world. The Northern Plains Region of America, is home to many tribal reservations that are associated to several tribes, including the Chippewa/Ojibwe, Arikara, Sioux, Lakota, Dakota. The Native Dancer Project is currently at a state where we have proved we can create the Gaming environment with realistic regalia including cloth physics that will be Native Dancer. The problem we are facing now, is the lack of variety within the environment and equally important, the demand for more indigenous creators able to be working in a 3D space.
What is your solution?
The solution will help address the workforce barriers when working with 3D technologies, faced in the tribal communities we are working with. This is a continuous goal throughout the development of Native Dancer, as we hope to include the Native American people we are representing in all processes of the project. In the past we have accomplished this by having tribal advisors on our board and hiring tribal students to work on the project and including traditional dancers and a drum group in our media data collection processes using motion capture technology. This solution will specifically be to grow our workforce development reach within the tribal communities. We will do this by, collaborating with tribal students who duel are experienced in powwow regalia making or design. In this process we will use E-paper technology, to create templates and textures that can then be transferred to 3D assets. Through this process we will train these creators to use the E-paper tech, and further processes used when creating a 3D garment for regalia, or asset as an accessory.
