What specific problem are you solving?
Small nonprofits are drowning in paperwork instead of serving their communities. I've seen this firsthand - while running a homeless shelter, I spent countless hours wrestling with grant applications instead of helping families in crisis. This isn't just my experience; it's a systemic problem affecting 92% of U.S. nonprofits operating on budgets under $5M. These organizations lose roughly 15-25% of their staff time to administrative tasks, particularly around funding. They're stuck in a brutal cycle: they need funding to hire staff, but lack the staff time to secure funding. The Urban Institute found that 76% of nonprofits can't recover more than 10% for overhead costs, despite needing 25-35% for sustainable operations. What makes this especially frustrating is that the money exists - there's over $1.2 trillion in foundation assets and billions in federal grants available. But small nonprofits often can't access these funds because they lack the resources to navigate complex application processes or meet compliance requirements. This means vital community services go underfunded while grant money sits unused.
What is your solution?
We've created a hybrid solution that combines AI technology with hands-on support to help small nonprofits secure and manage funding more efficiently. Think of it as having both a smart funding assistant and an experienced mentor at your fingertips. Our AI platform automatically matches nonprofits with relevant grants by analyzing their mission, programs, and capacity. It then streamlines the application process by auto-filling repeated information, checking compliance requirements, and providing step-by-step guidance. The system learns from each submission, continuously improving its matching accuracy and application suggestions. We know technology alone isn't enough. That's why we're also building physical Nonprofit Support Centers, starting in Providence. Here, organizations can access workspace, meet with funding experts, and collaborate with other nonprofits. Our first center provides affordable workspace for up to 100 organizations annually. The whole system is available through a simple subscription ($99-$249/month), with sponsorship options available for smaller organizations. We've already pre-registered nonprofits and partnered with federal agencies to ensure our platform aligns with their requirements.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
We serve small and mid-sized nonprofits - the organizations doing incredible work in our communities while operating on shoestring budgets. I'm talking about the local food bank feeding hundreds of families each week, the shelter helping domestic violence survivors rebuild their lives, or the after-school program keeping kids safe and engaged. These are the groups that make up 92% of all US nonprofits and operate on less than $5M annually, often with just a handful of staff wearing multiple hats. These organizations are chronically underserved by traditional funding systems. Their staff are passionate and skilled at delivering services, but they're forced to spend precious time hunting for grants and wrestling with complex applications instead of serving their communities. Many can't afford grant writers or development staff, so the burden falls on already-overwhelmed program directors and executives. By automating the grunt work of finding and applying for grants, we free up these dedicated people to do what they do best - help their communities. When a small nonprofit can spend less time on paperwork and more time on programming, it creates a ripple effect. More meals served, more families housed, more children mentored - that's the real impact of our solution.
