What specific problem are you solving?
Across Latin America and many parts of the Global South, millions of people—especially youth and early-stage entrepreneurs—are eager to take climate action but lack the educational infrastructure, practical tools, and peer networks to do so effectively. While awareness of the climate crisis is growing, the capacity to translate that awareness into sustained, regenerative action remains limited.
Globally, only 30% of youth feel they have the skills to tackle climate change (UNESCO, 2022). In Latin America, nearly 80% of new ventures operate informally (OECD, 2020), and fewer than 20% of entrepreneurs integrate environmental sustainability into their business models (GEM, 2022). Most available climate education is centralized, theoretical, and disconnected from local realities and collective action.
This problem is systemic: disconnected education leads to fragmented, short-term efforts that fail to scale or regenerate ecosystems and communities. Solving this problem unlocks the conditions for hundreds of community-based climate solutions to emerge, evolve, and scale. When young leaders and early entrepreneurs are equipped to define the real challenges in their contexts, they stop mimicking superficial fixes and start generating transformations rooted in justice, regeneration, and collective intelligence.
What is your solution?
https://app.shambala.life/login
Shambala is a digital platform we developed to turn climate awareness into concrete regenerative action. It integrates specialized sustainability content with digital tools designed to support applied learning, collaborative work, and community engagement. Users can follow structured learning paths or create their own, access video-based masterclasses, consult and download action-oriented guides, and participate in interactive spaces where they share experiences, methodologies, and outcomes with others working in similar contexts. The entire platform is built to generate learning processes that are grounded in local realities and capable of scaling grassroots solutions.
The technological components include a learning management system that enables personalized educational journeys and tracks progress, a collaborative wiki focused on curated, open-access climate knowledge, and integrated community channels that support horizontal exchange among users. So far, the platform has benefited over 600 people committed to regenerating their environments through education, action, and collective connection.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
We work with young people in Latin America who are eager to take climate action but are often excluded from formal programs, disconnected from local resources, or overwhelmed by content that feels too technical or distant from their realities. Many of them care deeply about sustainability but lack access to learning pathways that speak their language, reflect their context, or help them connect with others who are trying to make change from the ground up.
We created this platform to fill that gap. We offer accessible, context-aware climate education paired with spaces for conversation and collaboration. Our community includes over 1,600 people interested in sustainability and regeneration, and more than 600 have already used the platform to learn, organize locally, and implement initiatives that reflect their realities and values.
