What specific problem are you solving?
Every day, billions of people contribute to climate change without realizing it — through water waste, excessive energy use, poor recycling habits, meat overconsumption and polluting transport. These habits, multiplied by the global population, silently accelerate the crisis. In countries like Brazil and other vulnerable regions, there’s a huge gap between climate awareness and behavior change. People know the crisis is real, but lack the tools to track and understand their own environmental impact. Without feedback, action becomes abstract — and change doesn’t happen. MAIA is being built to solve exactly that. It transforms sustainability into a real-time game, using AI and feedback to guide people’s daily actions — from energy and water to waste and emissions — helping them understand and reduce their footprint in a measurable way.
What is your solution?
MAIA is an intelligent virtual companion that lives with the user and helps reduce their environmental impact through daily interaction. It’s not just an app — it sees, hears and understands behaviors. If someone takes long showers or leaves lights on, MAIA detects this and responds in realtime, saying things like “you’re losing points” or “this is a sustainable action.” It works with devices people already have — smartphones, tablets or notebooks — and uses voice and visual input, without needing expensive sensors. The AI tracks habits across water, energy, waste and mobility, and gives users a personal environmental score. Through gamification, users gain or lose points, unlock achievements, and can compare progress within the community. Over time, MAIA guides users to make better decisions — not just through reminders, but by creating real awareness and measurable improvement. It’s simple, intuitive and feels like a conversation — not a lesson.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
MAIA serves people who are often excluded from climate solutions — regular citizens, families and communities in urban or lowincome areas. Many don’t have environmental education or access to tools that show them how their routines impact the planet. Most solutions speak to companies, governments or experts — not to people at home. MAIA brings sustainability into everyday life. It helps people save water, reduce energy use, waste less and change habits — through a simple, visual and interactive system. It speaks their language, gives clear feedback and builds environmental awareness through daily experience. It’s especially powerful in schools, households and neighborhoods where simple behavior changes can generate real economic savings and longterm impact. The system does not require technical knowledge or setup. It adapts to each person, and becomes a daily coach that helps them do better for the planet — and for themselves.
