What specific problem are you solving?
Up to 60% of Sub-Saharan Africans requiring care are either undiagnosed or poorly managed, of these, 270 million people affected by Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) early diagnosis, lack of follow-up, clear communication and healthcare contact leading to poor prognosis and a high death rate of up to 43% in some countries. Additionally, the access to modern connected diagnostic devices which allows clinicians provide prompt effective remote point of care screening to patients is lacking, leading to late and inaccurate diagnosis. These major gaps in healthcare in SSA make the growing devastating impact of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) more significant than infectious diseases in the coming years.
What is your solution?
https://youtu.be/2gcxaFyPWXQ Wazima Health is a UK based sub-saharan Africa health tech company which provides accessible integrated remote monitoring and diagnostics Telemedicine & health management solution for point of care screening for early diagnosis, care and triage. We provide the telemedicine technology that connects our point-of-care telemedicine stations to healthcare providers serving primary care in community, occupational and remote locations. Wazima Health's platform integrates various digital diagnostic devices to facilitate remote medical consultations and screenings. These devices include tools for screening for blood pressure, SPO2, diabetes, temperature, EKG, skin diseases, respiratory diseases and ultrasound equipment, which are deployed in telemedicine stations. Patients at these stations can undergo examinations using these devices, and the data is transmitted via satellite to specialist doctors in general hospitals for real-time diagnosis and consultation. Additionally, the platform supports home screening devices that allow patients to monitor vital signs and share results with healthcare professionals directly from their phones, enhancing the convenience and continuity of care.
Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?
Up to 95% of healthcare costs is paid out of pocket in Sub-Saharan Africa and yet unavailable to about 65% of the 1.3 billion population. These challenges are worsened by departure of doctors and nurses deepening the disparity of available doctor to treat patients. As a result, affordable community based digital health solutions such as what we offer are bridging the gaps in access to early diagnosis and care.Wazima Health aims to significantly improve the lives of individuals in SSA suffering from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular conditions. This population often resides in rural or resource-constrained areas where access to specialized healthcare services is limited. Challenges include a shortage of medical professionals, particularly specialists, and inadequate healthcare infrastructure, leading to delayed diagnoses, insufficient treatment, and poor health outcomes. To address these issues, Wazima Health offers an integrated telemedicine platform that combines remote monitoring and teleconsultation services. This system allows patients to receive continuous care and timely medical interventions without the need to travel long distances to healthcare facilities. By leveraging information and communication technology, Wazima Health bridges the gap between patients in underserved areas and healthcare professionals, facilitating better disease management and improving overall health outcomes.
