What specific problem are you solving?
Despite progress in Uganda’s financial sector, millions, especially low-income earners, women, and rural communities remain excluded from formal financial services. These individuals lack access to secure savings, affordable credit, and digital payment systems, limiting their ability to start or grow businesses, manage risks, and improve livelihoods. This exclusion is compounded by high unemployment and underemployment within the financial services sector itself, especially in underserved regions. The result is, communities without access to financial tools and a sector that lacks the capacity to scale. Key pain points include: 1. No secure place to save money 2. Limited digital transactions, increasing costs and inefficiencies 3. Lack of affordable credit, stifling entrepreneurship 4. Barriers to employment in financial services for youth and women Globally, over 1.4 billion people remain unbanked (Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation). Uganda mirrors this observation with 44% of its 46.4 million population remains underserved, and 74% live in rural areas with limited access to financial tools and services. With mobile adoption rising, there is a major opportunity to deliver digital, inclusive financial solutions tailored for underserved populations while creating thousands of jobs for youth and women. This is a high-growth, high-impact opportunity with long-term returns, by enabling financial access and unlocking economic potential across Uganda.
