Daan Besamusca is the US Investment Principal at George Soros' Open Society Foundations, where he specializes in making debt, equity and fund investments in service of human rights, social justice and accountable democracies. He is responsible for strategy development, origination, execution and portfolio management activities in the US and works on transactions globally.

Previously he worked at NIBC Mezzanine & Equity Partners, where he was involved in executing a wide range of debt & equity transactions – ranging from MBOs and growth financing propositions, to mergers, joint ventures and carve-outs – while at the same time engaged in complex investee companies’ operations and restructurings.

Daan holds a BSc and MSc in financial econometrics from the University of Amsterdam, and started his career with an investment banking graduate program after which he built his financial, accounting and risk management knowledge working in asset & liability management and financial markets risk before transitioning to the investment world.
