Daniel is passionate about education entrepreneurship and investing, having built multiple
for and non-profit educational ventures from the ground up.
Daniel started his career at Citigroup’s Latin America M&A group, where he worked at both the New York and Mexico City offices, advising corporations from multiple sectors in M&A
and fundraising transactions. He then joined ESCALA Educación, a higher-education
financing startup, as Head of Sales & Business Development, founded Mentors4U
Colombia, the leading independent mentoring program for under-represented talent in
Colombia and worked as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Latin American Leadership
Academy (LALA). He was also an Adjunct Professor of “Entrepreneurship and Corporate
Social Responsibility” at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (Medellin, Colombia).
Daniel honed his investing experience in the education space, working as a Fellow for Owl
Ventures, the largest EdTech-focused VC fund in the world, and also as an investor at
Stanford GSB’s Impact Fund Education Team, having led both funds’ first investment in
Latin America. He is now Partner at Appian Education Ventures, an education-focused
investment fund and venture builder. Daniel earned his bachelor of science in Economics and Finance,
Magna Cum Laude, from Bentley University’s honors program, and completed an MBA & MA in Education joint-
degree at Stanford University, where he was an Arbuckle Leadership Fellow.

Daniel es un apasionado del emprendimiento educativo, y ha sido parte de la construcción
de múltiples organizaciones del sector.
Daniel comenzó su carrera en el grupo de fusiones y adquisiciones del Citigroup en América
Latina, donde trabajó en las oficinas de Nueva York y la Ciudad de México, asesorando a
corporaciones en transacciones de fusiones y adquisiciones y recaudación de fondos.
Luego se unió a ESCALA Educación, un emprendimiento de financiamiento para la
educación superior, como Director Comercial y de Desarrollo de Negocios, fundó
Mentors4U Colombia, el programa de mentoría independiente para talento diverso líder en
Colombia, y trabajó como "Emprendedor en Residencia" en el Latin American Leadership
Academy (LALA). También fue Profesor de Cátedra de “Emprendimiento y Responsabilidad
Social Corporativa” en la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (Medellín, Colombia).
Daniel consolidó su experiencia en inversiones en el espacio educativo, trabajando como
"Fellow" de Owl Ventures, el fondo de capital de riesgo de EdTech más grande del mundo, y
también como Inversionista del Equipo de Educación del Fondo de Inversión de Impacto del
Stanford University GSB, habiendo liderado la primera inversión de ambos fondos en
América latina. Ahora es Socio de Appian Education Ventures, fondo de inversión y venture
builder enfocado exclusivamente en el sector educativo.Daniel obtuvo su pregrado en Economia y Finanzas, Magna Cum Laude, del programa dehonores de Bentley University, y completó una doble titulación de MBA y Maestría en Educación en Stanford University, en donde fue Arbuckle Leadership Fellow.
