Geoffrey So

Head of Strategy & Global Health Policy, Novartis Foundation

Geoffrey So is the Head of Strategy & Global Health Policy at the Novartis Foundation. He works across the portfolio of global health initiatives and cultivates collaborations with traditional and non-traditional health partners with the aim to strengthen healthcare delivery and health systems, and generate data and evidence for policy change, integration and scale. He oversees the management of Better Hearts Better Cities, a multidisciplinary, multisector initiative to improve hypertension control and cardiovascular health in low-income urban communities in Brazil, Mongolia and Senegal.

Prior to joining the Novartis Foundation, Geoffrey worked at the United Nations and World Health Organization. In the Executive Office of the UN Secretary-General, he served as a global health advisor for Every Woman Every Child, and advocacy and communications lead for Amina J. Mohammed in the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Unit. At WHO/Roll Back Malaria Partnership, he was responsible for external relations with governments, businesses and civil society for malaria and resource mobilization efforts.

Geoffrey trained as a public health epidemiologist in Canada and his former research includes HIV and Hepatitis C harm reduction, influenza diagnostic tool optimization, and the prevention and treatment of cardio-metabolic diseases among HIV-positive individuals in Sub-Saharan Africa.
