Joichi "Joi" Ito is Director of the MIT Media Lab, Professor of the Practice of Media Arts and Sciences at MIT, and a Visiting Professor of Law from Practice at the Harvard Law School. He previously helped create a number of Internet companies and was an early-stage investor in Twitter, Kickstarter, littleBits, Formlabs, and other startups. He serves on the boards of PureTech Health, The New York Times Company, The MacArthur Foundation, and Knight Foundation. Ito received a PhD from The Keio University Graduate School of Media and Governance in 2018 for his thesis, The Practice of Change.
