Laurene Powell Jobs

Founder and President, Emerson Collective

Laurene Powell Jobs is founder and president of Emerson Collective, an organization dedicated to removing barriers to opportunity so people can live to their full potential. Emerson Collective employs creative solutions to seemingly intractable problems in the areas of education, immigration reform, and the environment. It uses a wide range of strategies — partnering with entrepreneurs and experts, parents and policymakers, advocates and storytellers — to spur change and promote equality. Laurene serves as board chair of College Track, a college completion program she co-founded in 1997 that combats the serious achievement gap among students of color in communities in nine centers across California, Colorado and Louisiana and continues to mentor students in East Palo Alto.  A native of New Jersey, she earned bachelor’s degrees in political science and economics at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
