I have been teaching at MIT for more than 50 years. My teaching, research and service focus on environmental planning, cybersecurity for critical urban infrastructure, social entrepreneurship, sovereignty of indigenous peoples, science diplomacy and water affordability in America. I have authored more than 20 books that have been published in eight languages. I co-founded and serve as Vice Chair of the inter-university Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. I also founded and serve as Chief Knowledge Officer of the Consensus Building Institute that provides mediation services in complex public policy disputes around the world.
