Peter Callstrom

President & CEO, San Diego Workforce Partnership

United States

Peter had led nonprofits since 1986 including services to people with disabilities, the homeless and job seekers. SDWP funds, oversees and delivers many workforce programs and conducts ongoing in-depth labor market research. With an emphasis on those with barriers to employment, but available to all, SDWP and its funded partners reach 100,000+ annually. The SDWP administers Connect2Careers reaching 15,000+ youth with work readiness and jobs. The SDWP created a broad-based initiative to address the opportunity youth crisis (conference, research and more). In 2019, SDWP launched the first and only Income Share Agreement (ISA) fund in the workforce system (550 entities). Participants pay nothing upfront. When they finish, they repay a small percent of future income to the ISA, thereby funding future students. The ISA provides placement, mentorship and other supports. Recipient of “WIOA Trailblazer” by National Association of Workforce Board, the SDWP is a nationally recognized leader.
