Shanti Jagannathan

Principal Education Specialist, Asian Development Bank

Shanti Jagannathan is Principal Education Specialist in Asian Development Bank and has over 25 years of experience in leading international cooperation programs in school education, technical and vocational education and training and higher education. Her work engagements have been in over 30 countries in Asia and the Pacific, Europe and North America. She has over 20 publications including books (‘Powering a Learning Society in an Age of Disruption’, ‘Skills Development for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth in Developing Asia-Pacific’, ‘Education and Skills for Inclusive Growth, Green Jobs and the Greening of Economies in Asia’ and ‘India and the European Union: Towards Corporate Synergy’). Her recent work includes ADB’s guidance note on COVID 19 and Education in Asia and the Pacific and studies on implications of the fourth industrial revolution on skills and jobs. She has served as a member on advisory bodies on topics such as education, gender equality, elimination of child labor, democracy and human rights, and scholarships for underprivileged students. She has been a visiting lecturer at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Japan, and the Education University of Hong Kong. She is on inter-organizational working groups on Youth Skills and Employment, TVET, SDGs and Just Transition.
