Our Solution

C.O.D.S.S – CIRCULAR ON-DEMAND SOCIAL SMART CLOTHING

Tagline

A co-created circular on-demand smart IoT clothing that helps you improve sustainable footprints using the blockchain and machine learning.

Pitch us on your solution

A sustainable future begins with the small decisions we make.

Imagine a future where you can collaborate with the brand to create, and based on pre-orders produces only what is demanded and comes with IoT technology to get information on product traceability, facilitate repair, swop, upcycling, footprint post-purchase compensation and many more services to help you improve your sustainable metrics. Using circular design, you can connect to local places for the correct recycling, based on product specs. All in one simple application that reads your product.

Verify the story of the people who made it, who owned it before, those invisible, not anymore. Transparency as a major tool for change.

We use circular design principles, sustainable materials, and ethical manufacturing to make it possible, based on product specification, post-purchase analytics, and artificial intelligence.

What is the problem you are solving?

-out of stock and overstock situations, translates to $1.1 trillion in global lost sales.

-u$460 billion are lost with clothing thrown away that could still be used.

Numbers prove that the market is based on minimum efficiency, no collaboration/circular methodologies, and obsolete utilization.

We start with some questions.

Do people participate in the creation of clothing?
Do people know?
-The story behind the product, how was it made, who made it, where did the materials come from?
-Local places to repair, upcycle or recycle?
-The impact clothing has while using it and how to compensate it?

Smart products improve efficiency in post-purchase but also, as it carries history, specs, and data allows knowledge-based information for brands to build better products and services using principles of the circular economy, including automation in fabrication and recycling.

Considering that one garbage truck full of clothing is incinerated or landfilled every second in the world because 7-8 uses are sufficient for customers, it is clear that the relation with clothing must be changed, to a more interactive, care and long-lasting model.

Who are you serving?

PEOPLE

Using unique identities for everyone who participates in the product lifecycle, we create value. Information of those who made your product, how much they earned, where they live, and other information, even who owned it before. We bring to evidence those who are traditionally invisible in the process.

BRANDS/DESIGNERS:
With analytics collected, stored in the blockchain, and a central database, brand and designers will be able to understand product use and history to create solutions such as rental, repair, and many other services, predicting correctly stock and products while designing them better to last longer with circular methodologies. Plus avoid counterfeit.

USERS:
Connected product and a simple application that helps users have a closer integration to their garment, increasing product lifecycle and reducing footprints.

MARKET:
Predictive data and knowledge improve inefficiencies the market has, such as overstock, difficulties related to recycling, and many other problems.

ETHICAL/SUSTAINABLE BUSINESSES:
An opportunity for new services based on product care and durability, not only increase market share but the creation of new sustainable opportunities.

ENVIRONMENT:
Products are produced on demand and within circular principles, we reduce negative externalities and the pressure on our natural resources.

What is your solution?

We create products using circular design principles, technological and sustainable certified materials plus ethical production, helping local small manufacturers from Rio de Janeiro and non-profits that help women from low-income communities for recycling and craftwork, all connected through the use of technology.

The next step: Creating an app that will help customers order services such as repair, care, laundry, carbon compensation and many other services and products to increase product durability via an open source platform of sustainable solutions. And when ready, select local places to correctly recycle. For brands, a data base and analytics to improve product and service development using circular and post-purchase data.

How it works:

-embedded NFC/RFID/QR technology will connect product tag identification in the blockchain.

-using the reading app, by tapping/reading the NFC/RFID/QR, user will be able to access data related to that product, such as traceability, story, and available services.

-customer will then connect their own identity to the product (also created in the blockchain). user + product identity to create unique results.

-user can check product details, including transparency, traceability or choose a service related to the product specifications, such as repair, laundry, carbon compensation...

-plus, offer information related to lifestyle and purchase history, such as local swop events, notes on how to improve footprints and etc.

The best effortless interaction between the customer and the product.

Applied technology can also help in the future, automation of fabrication, logistics, and recycling process.

Select only the most relevant.

More about your solution

Select one of the below:

New application of an existing technology

Describe what makes your solution innovative.

There are great solutions available today that supports traceability and transparency for brands in terms of the supply chain, identity for counterfeit, transactions or prove of information.

So we believe in one simple statement. If the end-user does not see the value or have an interest in being part of a major change, it will be very hard to transition the market for a more conscious relation.

Considering this statement, we believe that starting with the end-user, we will have the capacity to encourage change in the entire supply chain. So that’s why our solution aims for the end-user and not the opposite. We know the pressure for change happens from every side, but the end-user has a greater part on it. We need to create demand.

Creating demand for transparency, circular design, services to increase product lifecycle, rent, repair, recycling and many other initiatives related to the platform, brands, industries, and the market will run to supply those needs. The faster demands happen, the faster change occurs and creates new opportunities for innovation.

Another great advantage is that solutions available today depend solely on it, and what we propose is not one single company, but an open source of brands and companies offering multi services and product care for that specific product and user. As we have this open platform, the faster change happens as more and more partners will look for sharing it and accelerate growth.

Describe the core technology that your solution utilizes.

PROCESS TECHNOLOGY

Sustainable materials that are adequate for the circular model (single material with no blending, such as organic cotton or compostable/biodegradable fabric). The use of blended materials turns complex or unviable for future recycling.

-3D prototyping to avoid physical prototyping

-Presale (Kickstarter methodology), to avoid overstock.

The presale is determined by an inverted pricing strategy when we offer a discount before the product is released instead of the opposite to sell unsold goods. As we work with presale and produce only on-demand based on presale objectives, we create a new method that reduces to zero problems related to unsold goods and thus energy, material and other footprints for these goods.

PRODUCT TECHNOLOGY

Readable tag (RFID/NFC/QRcode), so that customer can access by reading or tapping mobile, information regarding the specific product.

NFC/RFID/QR code readers, much available via mobile and other structures

*available in market

VIRTUAL TECHNOLOGY

Blockchain as the identity provider, verification and data provider.

Database (DB) to cross big data with blockchain identity verification, to empower artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics.

*we chose the blockchain only for identity verification because of its decentralized, immutability, security and transparency. But to store big data and provide other technologies, we chose traditional and centralized DB to avoid the massive use of energy by the blockchain (proof-of-work algorithm).

Also with a centralized database, we can have greater customization as they offer robust features and speed for data analytics and return.

In which countries do you currently operate?

  • Brazil
  • Germany

In which countries will you be operating within the next year?

  • Brazil
  • France
  • Germany
  • United States

How many people are you currently serving with your solution? How many will you be serving in one year? How about in five years?

TODAY

With our actual business size, as an initial target, we will be able to serve MOVIN stakeholders (suppliers, employees, customers, and partners). Considering that, we would have an impact on an estimate of 8k people.

1 YEAR

Now considering the 1-year time frame, if we consider the Brazilian fashion industry of 9,5 million people (source: ABIT), if we attend 10% of those, we would impact 950k. But in the next year, we expect to include Germany, France, and the United States, making that sum grow.

5 YEARS

Regarding our vision for the future, as accomplishing our objectives, we expect to impact not only the global conscious global consumers but every stakeholder related to the brand, product, and services available in the platform. Considering the conscious market, we would have an estimate of:

If we consider that fashion employs 1.9million (source: world bank), and the 66% conscious millennial consumers (1.2 billion total ) that prefer sustainable brands, if we expect to impact 1% of the total, that would amount to 13 million people.

This is an estimate based on our future objective to be a global platform in 5 years time.

What are your goals within the next year and within the next five years?

FUTURE:

A global source of data analytics regarding circular design and methodologies, user product interaction, product-specific related services and care, product development based on generated data and learning.

TODAY:

We have the objective to launch our solution following our objective sprints first within the brand (MOVIN), to validate and test the market. We will then A/B test different services and product care for the next 6 months within MOVIN. After the 6 months sprints, we will start offering the solution for other partner brands in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

NEXT YEAR:

In the next year, we plan to grow the solution for Brazil and the international market to specific countries, such as Germany, France, and the United States to specific regions, such as New York, California and Florida. These are strategic regions we expect to test and validate regarding sustainability mentality, market share, and fewer barriers.

Regarding the regions, we expect to grow together specific services regarding each and every region, offering an open infra so that services can apply to the platform.

The solution for other brands would also be viable for those regions.

5 YEARS:

We expect to have our business worldwide (except regions without sufficient services and product care or non-viable countries), with an increased amount of services and product related care and be reference in open platform for other brands to apply sustainable and ethical services, also using it as the main source in circular development, automation, user interaction and analytics.

What are the barriers that currently exist for you to accomplish your goals for the next year and for the next five years?

FINANCIAL (NEXT YEAR AND 5 YEARS):

To grow the business and achieve objectives, the need for funding is crucial. A supported and consistent growth would depend on investment for scaling, building a bigger team, developing the platform and accelerating user acquisition. Rounds of investments would keep the engine running and providing energy for accelerated growth.

CULTURAL (NEXT YEAR AND 5 YEARS):

When we use data as one of the drives, we usually face some concerns regarding how would we use data to feed analytics, artificial intelligence, and the main technologies. So, we believe there will be some barriers considering this specific matter.

PRODUCTION (5 YEARS):

Now considering production, how can we apply the IoT technologies to scale, such as different QR-codes or embedding RFID/NFC to each garment. Another point of concern when we consider probable growth and opportunity.

COMPLEXITY IN DATA ANALYSIS (5 YEARS):

Scaling to supply bigger players using the platform, we would need improved data analysis and more complex features, and the capacity to absorb the enormous amount of data fed to DB. And that’s why data will be stored in traditional DB and not in the blockchain, to reduce complexity, allow customization and speed. Blockchain will support security and identity for users, products, and transactions.

How are you planning to overcome these barriers?

FINANCIAL (NEXT YEAR AND 5 YEARS):

Financial support via rounds of investments, we will be able to achieve objectives. We already have a Venture Fund interested, but with an initial target for investment when achieving 5million USD in gross profit, looking for a 20million USD minimal investment. If not funded, we will partner with companies, institutions, a slower, but consistent growth.

CULTURAL (NEXT YEAR AND 5 YEARS):

The world today is built on data, only with information we are able to create efficient solutions to support businesses. One of the biggest companies today uses data as the main source of profit. So data is used internally to create analytics, but information keeps confidential to other organizations, except for the one who fed it. This should be solved by how we communicate and prove data security.

PRODUCTION (5 YEARS):

One of the main sources of these technologies will be local partners, supplying these technologies for production sites. As we offer not only one, but many technologies, it turns possible for smaller and big players to acquire and implement it. Also with a seamless section within the platform for brands, it will be easy to generate identities and order tags for the products.

COMPLEXITY IN DATA ANALYSIS (5 YEARS):

With financial support, we will be able to grow the team and acquire sufficient elastic database and servers to allow consistent growth in complexity. Thus traditional DB and not blockchain for storage.
