Elevator pitch

What is your solution?

Hydroquo+ is focused on delivering water intelligence to drive water safety and availability with actionable insights. Our unique industry-first approach combines hardware, software with bi-directional connectivity to automate water monitoring, testing, alerting, and data analysis. The vertically integrated solution enables water operators to forecast events in relation to water efficiency and quality in real-time.

What specific problem are you trying to solve?

Industrial, Commercial, and Municipal water users all face a recurring issue- how to monitor the quality of water they use, dispose of, or distribute in a timely, cost-effective manner. Currently, the most common method of analysis of water quality consists of (grab or composite) sampling followed by laboratory investigation.

This approach fails to fully indicate the dynamics of water quality since it only provides snapshots of specific points in time. Furthermore, due to delays in transportation, sample preparation, and analysis, laboratory analysis only reveals a history of water quality and not its current state. Depending on the lab used and analysis required, the results may not be available for days or weeks, making the data unavailable for use in real-time decision making or process control and making it error-prone.

Furthermore, smart water IoT solutions are fragmented, lack reliable & comprehensive solutions. Although point solutions for monitoring water usage and quality exist however full-stack solutions without manual intervention with continuous monitoring plus any predictive capacity remains elusive.

Bangladesh faces adverse challenges in assessing critical water resources which has severe implications on the health of people and overall infrastructure leading to poor water quality and scarcity. Dhaka WASA the authority responsible for managing sewerage and catering supply of 20M residents residing in the Capital has a maximum capacity of sampling 500 lab tests per month.

Who does your solution serve? In what ways will the solution impact their lives?

Hydroquo+ solution has enabled water operators to be able to correlate data with several planning models, understand consumer behavior, and understand forecasting patterns for custom operations. As a result, they can identify and get ahead of the issues before they become real concerns including potential compliance issues, maintenance requirements, water usage, and water quality anomalies.

What steps have you taken to understand the needs of the population you want to serve?

Hydroquo+ has automated high-frequency testing fundamentally reducing the cost per sample. D’WASA required 7200 samples per month /Area for (Ph, Turbidity, Total Dissolved Solids, Dissolved Oxygen, Salinity, Total Organic Carbon, Dissolved Organic Carbon, Free Chlorine, Residual Chlorine) at two minutes per day. Using sample schedules and the monthly cost of the Hydroquo+ solution the sample can be calculated USD 0.01.

Furthermore, we have achieved the following milestones:

  • 525,600 + water tests completed in Dhaka alone in the last 2 years

  • We have crossed the total number of data points collected publicly across Bangladesh over 20 years

  • Stakeholders ROI through process control within 48 hours

  • Agriculture sector to gain crop yield through active monitoring of Nitrates

Pipe Corrosion identification with 40% saving of city budgets from Infrastructure replacement

Which aspects of the Challenge does your solution most closely address?

Taking action to combat climate change and its impacts (Sustainability)

Our solution's stage of development:

Scale: A sustainable enterprise working in several communities or countries that is looking to grow significantly, focusing on increased efficiency

Explain why you selected this stage of development for your solution—in other words, what have you accomplished to date?

Hydroquo+ has successfully completed two deployments with D’WASA in collaboration with Central Microbiology Laboratory triggering the purchase order of 10 more deployments in the pipeline and has initiated the interest of pilot projects with BUET, C’WASA, Chittagong Port Authority, and MENA region for scaling.

We expect to impact 2.5 million residents directly and over 5 million people indirectly  by providing them last mile compliance to tap water. Furthermore, using all the real-time metrics from the sensors will be used to create early warning predictive systems to prevent disease outbreaks under the standardised protocol of health and safety measures.

A network covering 250,000 residents.

What are your impact goals for the next year, and how will you achieve them?

Health

We expect to impact 2.5 million residents directly and over 5 million people indirectly by providing them last-mile compliance to tap water. Furthermore, using all the real-time metrics from the sensors will be used to create early warning predictive systems to prevent disease outbreaks under the standardized protocol of health and safety measures.

Non-Revenue Water Losses

We will quantify and assess all bottlenecks such as the leaks and fractures in distribution networks arising from aging infrastructure and decaying pipelines in driving up operational efficiencies by optimizing supply.

Water Losses

Minimize water losses through on-site proactive  maintenance for repair

Lab Compliance

Ensure mandatory lab instrument calibration to ensure continuous testing during the downtime of systems.
