Solution Overview

Solution Name:

Sustainable Water Resource

One-line solution summary:

Harvesting Water from Air using solar energy driven absorption system

Pitch your solution.

depending on solar energy available in the Mideast countries, water is harvested from air and made available for mist irrigation. it allows the farmer to get their water from air using available sun.

What specific problem are you solving?

scarcity of water for agriculture. small farmers need not to worry about the irrigation water for their products as water is harvested from air and the source of harvesting is the solar energy.

it can be applied and modified to be suitable for small and medium size farmers those represent the almost 2/3  of the farmers around the country.

many people will have stable jobs in farming and many other will be encouraged to enter this sector.

What is your solution?

the solution depend on using solar energy to drive the vapor absorption refrigerator that will be responsible of lowering the temperature of air and extract the water from air... almost 1-2 m3/day water can be harvested using this method... by integrating the available water with an efficient mist irrigation system, the farming process will be safe and stable.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?

small and medium size farmers, women and rural families.

the solution will provide farmers with a stable income and better socio-economic level of life.

Which dimension of the Challenge does your solution most closely address?

Support small-scale producers with access to inputs, capital, and knowledge to improve yields while sustaining productivity of land and seas

Explain how the problem, your solution, and your solution’s target population relate to the Challenge and your selected dimension.

scarcity of water forces large number of people to migrate.. it causes high number or poverty in rural area...

the solution will stop migration, and will provide rural people with a stable source of water, stable income, and increase their productivity leading to higher crop production and food security.

Who is the primary delegate for your solution?

N. beithou

What is your solution’s stage of development?

Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model

In what city, town, or region is your solution team headquartered?

Amman, Jordan
More About Your Solution

Which of the following categories best describes your solution?

A new application of an existing technology

Describe what makes your solution innovative.

never been applied in its integrated form for green agriculture

Describe the core technology that powers your solution.

it depend on the solar energy which is a well established technology. and the vapor absorption machine which is also available around the world. the technology of mist irrigation is used in large scale farms.

integrated the three systems for harvesting water and mist irrigation, which helps small and medium size farmers is the new idea. this idea high prevent migration, end poverty and provide rural women and farmers with stable respective life.

Provide evidence that this technology works.

Please select the technologies currently used in your solution:

  • Ancestral Technology & Practices

What is your theory of change?

the project is to extract water from air, with efficient irrigation system.

the system to be built is covering a small size farm, pipes with sprinklers and pump will be fixed on the storage tank by a plumber.

the absorption system that harvest water from air needs a power of about 10 kW, which is covered by almost 40-60 m2 solar panels.

the solar panels will be joint together with the inverter. and with the help of electricians will be connected to the absorption system.
